Introduction
When you focus about Allah (swt), then your connection with Allah (swt) will be so strong. We are
now discussing the name of Al Fatah for more than one year, fadhl min Allah, but still we have not
given it its right. Before we might have learned about the name of Allah in one class, but Allah (swt)
opens things with gentleness, with lutf (لطف).
Surah Al Fatiha is a conversation between us and Allah (swt), but what matters is our heart as we
are reciting it.
We are beginning my saying that ‘I really love Allah (swt)’ ( ٱلحمد لمينرب لل ـ ٱلع ). And you are saying that
Allah (swt) is full of mercy, and to Him belongs the mercy. You cannot force mercy into anyone, Allah
(swt) puts it into whom He wills. So why make yourself a slave to anyone to get mercy? Ask for
mercy from the Owner of Mercy, ( ن ـ ٱلرحيمٱلرحم ), subhan Allah. Allah (swt) will never disappoint you
as long as you have full expectations from Him. Allah (swt) wants you to be like this with Him. But
anything else in the duniya can fail and disappoint you.
For example, if a person is sick, and the doctor tells him there is no hope, it’s in the genes. Aren’t the
genes creation of Allah (swt)? Don’t you believe that Allah (swt) is the Most Merciful, don’t you have
full hope in Him? It is your test to believe that Allah (swt) is able to do anything. When you have
hope in Allah (swt), you will get rewarded.
Owner of the Day of Judgement (ين لكيومٱلد ـ (م
( لك ـ ينيومم ٱلد ) will give you fear, but it’s fear that you will lose the love that you have for Allah (swt).
Notice when you preach to people, don’t scare them. Fear is mentioned 3rd, first love, then hope,
then fear. In the hadith, you are not supposed to scare another Muslim, especially with jokes. So
with the duniya we are not supposed to scare each other, then what about the deen? Subhan Allah.
We make our children scared if they do something, the jinn will come, police, etc, and you see they
fear these things and not Allah (swt).
When you fear Allah (swt), it gives you motivation, not discouragement – fear of Allah (swt) is a
worship. Allah (swt) does not want you to fear Him to despair.

(مالك): is one of the names of Allah, He is the Owner. In the Quran, you see the words (مالك) being
combined with ( ينيوم ٱلد ). And you see the word (مالك) being combined with (الملك), Owner of the
Dominion.
You have the three names of Allah (swt) that are derived from (ملك) (الملك) , (المالك) , (المليك):
o (الملك): The King. He has complete Ownership. There might be kings in the duniya, but
they cannot take anything with them after death. Whatever you ‘own’ in this life is just
entrusted to you. You are entrusted with a house, you are entrusted with your
children, you are entrusted with your life. You do not even own one hair. Your
ownership is not real, just temporary.
o The problem is people think things are for them, that they posses it. This is what causes
mental problems and fights. People even think they own others. You cannot own
anyone. Imagine an object you do not own, so how about people? Especially in
marriage, you do not own anyone or children. People think they own their children.
They scream at them, thinking they are young they won’t remember. And children can
get affected by just getting screamed at once. And how is burning or locking children
discipline for misbehaving? Istaghfar Allah.
o Allah (swt) owns your soul, and He can take it whenever He wills. There is just one
thing that you own, which are your good deeds and sins. Your wealth is according to
your deeds.
(1) Allah (swt) is the real King because He is perfect. We are not perfect, that is why we do not own.
Imagine an owner and a king that is not perfect. Alhamdulliah we have One King and One Owner
because He is perfect in His attributes. Your King is perfect in knowledge. Imagine in your own
house, you do not know where things are. Sometimes you want to hide something in a secret place
and you end up forgetting where you put it, subhan Allah. Allah (swt) knows the tiniest, finest,
smallest, most secret details, and He knows what is in all our hearts. He knows the past and future
of every human being. Allah (swt) is aware of every detail in His Dominion because He is the Owner,
the King. Imagine there is no one absent in His Dominion – Allah (swt) is aware of all.
o Allah (swt) is the real King because He is perfect in mercy, perfect in ability. If Allah
(swt) wants something, He can do it. Sometimes you can own a house, but you are not
allowed to add another floor. It shows that you do not have ability. Allah (swt) is the
real King because He is able to do everything in this universe.
We are slaves, poor, needy, and our mind is limited. So when we read ( لك ـ ينيومم ٱلد ) it really puts us
in our place, so that we know where we stand.
Allah is the real Owner because His seeing and hearing is perfect: Where is Allah (swt)? Allah (swt)
rose over the throne in a manner that suits His majesty, above the seventh heaven. Allah (swt) can
see and hear all of us.
(2) Anybody other than Allah (swt) is a servant. This is a very important fact. They only own for a
short time. Being a servant means not to depend on yourself. We even make dua’a for this ( الواللهم
عينطرفةنفسيالىتكلني ) (Oh Allah do not leave me to entrust myself for even a blink of an eye), why
should I not depend on myself? Because if I rely on myself or other slaves like me, then they will
disappoint me.

Even for children we tell them to be confident, but if you want them to have confidence, it comes
from faith. They need to be confident that Allah (swt) will be with them, Allah (swt) will make them
succeed. For example, a child might have studied, and thinks she did everything right and is
depending on herself. And you will see on the exam, she would have ended up studying for the
wrong part. We don’t want them to be successful in the duniya but failures in the akhira, subhan
Allah.
( باللاالقوةالوحولال ) (There is no might or power except with Allah) : Allah (swt) says He is the Owner
of the Day of Judgement, and when You are the Owner of the Day of Judgement, You own
everything else, the duniya too.
We ask Allah (swt) to make us true, obedient slaves. Ameen
