TSI USA MEETS TSI MALAYSIA

TSI Malaysia is honoured to receive Mr David Gorecki Vice President Global Sales TSI USA to its office in Petaling Jaya Selangor on December 2nd 2015.

David, as he is fondly called, was on vacation with his lovely wife to Malaysia for the very first time. He took the liberty to visit TSI Malaysia enroute his way back to Hong Kong from Langkawi.

Albeit brief, the visit was significant as David had a first-hand information about TSI Malaysia modus operandi as well as getting to know the key management personnel of TSI Malaysia.

TSI Malaysia currently services two (2) TSI global accounts i.e. Knowles and UPS. The exchange of information between David and TSI Malaysia is vital towards managing and improving relationship with these two (2) global accounts at local and headquarters level.

Whilst in vacation, David and wife stayed at the prestigious The Danna Langkawi which is owned by TradewindsCorporation Bhd, the holding company of TSI Malaysia.

Much impressed by the property, David promised to update the TSI Advisory Board Council in Hong Kong to consider The Danna as a possible venue for TSI Global Conference in 2016.

The General Manager of TSI Malaysia Mr Khairy handed a memento to David to mark his historic visit to Malaysia.

See you again soon and Bon Voyage David!

3 DAYS IN AUCKLAND AND WAIHEKE ISLAND NEW ZEALAND

MEETINGS & EVENTS

www.twtravel.com.my 5

Auckland is a beautiful harbour city with a thriving food scene and café culture. It’s the home of the flat white coffee, and world-class vineyards are just a 30-minute boat ride away. According to the locals, Auckland may be NZ’s biggest city but it retains a happy, village vibe. It’s achilled-out city surrounded by hills and incredible coastline. It’s also fast becoming a commercial hub for global business. This multicultural city, home to a third of all Kiwis, has recently welcomed a raft of bars, boutiques and restaurants that highlight locally made products, from excellent craft beer and wine to fashion and art.

In three days you’ll find out why Auckland’s lifestyle is rated so highly. Depart the city for Waiheke Island on a ferry that will have you at your destination in just 35 minutes. Efficient local transport on the island makes it easy to visit vineyards, beaches and artists’ studios. Excellent restaurants are part of Waiheke’s charm.

Spend a day exploring the sights and sounds of central Auckland- from thrills and spills, to art and culture, to getting out on Auckland’s sparkling harbour. Another city escape takes you west to Auckland’s wild side. Hike in the verdant Waitakere Ranges and experience the native rainforest and rugged black-sand beaches which define the west coast.

AirportThe Airbus shuttle bus plies the 21km journey between Auckland International Airport and downtown every 15 minutes and stops close to most major hotels and landmarks.

Taxis are readily available from the arrivals area. There are two types of cabs: more expensive, but super-reliable Corporate Cabs and standard taxis. Both can be hailed on the street, but Corporate Cabs will also take reservations making them more popular with business travellers, many of which will have travelled long-haul.

Important NoteAs with many islands, border controls are tight when it comes to bringing in fruit, vegetables, or other items like plants, wood or other natural products. This is part of an effort to prevent the introduction of diseases. The penalties are high and if you’re bringing gifts for friends or colleagues, it’s important to remember this.

The Auckland climate is also something to bear in mind when packing for your trip, the changeable weather can mean you can get sunshine, gales and hail all in one morning.Pack sun protection as the city has a high UV rating.

Waiheke Island

Auckland is set on three beautiful harbours and dotted with 48 extinct volcanic cones. It’s regularly named one of the best places in the world to live; Lonely Planet namedAuckland as one of the world's Top 10 Cities for 2014 in its 'Best in Travel' guide.

In the Hauraki Gulf, to the east of the city, there are several beautiful islands for travellers to visit. Waiheke, known as the Island of Wine, is a year-round favourite.

The ferry link between Auckland and Waiheke Island comes in two forms. Fast passenger ferries travel from Auckland’s central business district to Matiatia Bay in just 35 minutes. Vehicular ferries operate between Half Moon Bay marina in east Auckland and Kennedy Point on Waiheke.

Waiheke is a picturesque blend of vineyards and olive groves, beaches, farmland and forest. Visits to vineyards, art studios and cafes will keep you busy, or you could simply find a perfect beach and make relaxation your top priority. Waiheke’s also a great place for zip lining, archery, clay pigeon shooting, sea kayaking, horse riding and golf.

There's a good choice of accommodation - from luxury retreats to backpacker hostels. Transport options include bus, taxi, rental car and scooter.

Today you make your way back to Auckland from Waiheke to explore the central city and all its exciting activities. Head to the Sky Tower for big city views, and if you're up for a thrill, try the Skywalk or Sky Jump. Those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground will enjoy a good dose of history and culture at Auckland Museum and theAuckland Art Gallery. Harbour activities like sailing an America’s Cup yacht, kayaking out to a nearby island or jet boating are also wonderful ways to experience Auckland.

For lunch head to Wynyard Quarter or the Viaduct for waterfront dining. Or check out the Britomart precinct to combine a bite to eat with shopping at designer boutiques. If you'd like to check out one of Auckland's most popular inner city beaches, drive or bus along Tamaki Drive to Mission Bay. Enjoy an ice cream on the beach, take a dip in the sea, hire a kayak, try stand up paddle boarding or throw a frisbee around. Or you could drive up to Mount Eden (Maungawhau) for panoramic views; it's one of the region’s extinct volcanoes and it's highest natural point.

Head to Ponsonby for dinner. It's one of the mostfashionable inner-city suburbs in central Auckland, with its laneway of stylish bars and street vendor-style eateries.

Auckland's West Coast

Head out to the Waitakere Ranges, just a 45 minute drive from downtown Auckland, to explore some of the 250km of walking tracks through pristine rainforest – from short and easy walks to multi-day tramps. Call in at the Arataki Visitor Centre on Scenic Drive, a short drive on from Titirangi, for walking maps and local advice.

Experience two beautiful waterfalls and two wild west coast beaches in one morning. Drive to Karekare beach where, after just a few minutes' walk inland, you'll find the stunning Karekare Falls surrounded by lush native bush.

Next, make your way up the coast to Piha. From the end of Glen Esk Road, an easy 45 minute walk through native bush leads you to the towering Kitekite Falls, with its six levels cascading into a turquoise pool. Here you can cool off during the summer months.

After your walk head to the Piha Café for a bite to eat for lunch. Spend the afternoon on the rugged black-sand beach of Piha. Climb up Lion Rock and watch experienced surfers ride the waves.

ITINERARYUpon the arrival, we will group together to meet with Tempel Travel’s English-speaking tour director before continuing our journey to Eskihisar Town. The group will be travelling via coach and crossing the Sea of Marmara by ferries and moves onto Bursa. A hidden gem, nestled amidst northwestern Anatolia, within the Marmara Region, Bursa is the fourth most populous city in Turkey and one of the most industrialized metropolitan centers in the country. We will take advantage of the trip by paying a visit to Ulucami (Grand Mosque) – the largest Mosque in Bursa with the most striking example of Ottoman Turkish art andimpressive calligraphic wall decorations since the 1399 AD. Next, we will tour around Koza Han, another name for “silk cocoon market”. Sultan Beyazit II built Koza Han in the 1491. It functions used as both a caravanserai and a silk market because Bursa is the last stop on the great Silk Road from China. Since 1491, the Koza Han has remained the center of the silk industry and trade. Next on our agenda is a pit stop by the Cumalikizik Village; an early Ottoman settlement area. The village is in an excellent condition as the authorities want to maintain its original historical character while they take pride in portraying one of the finest examples of early Ottoman architecture. We will be putting a night in Bursa.

DAY 02 BURSA KUSADASI (597km)(B/L/D)

After breakfast, the group will set off for Selcuk Village and explore Ephesus Ancient City, one of the world’s most outstanding archaeological sites. Over in these sites, you will be able to enjoy a magnificent sight of some of the elite grandeur structures such as the Library of Celsius, Hadrian Temple, Marble Street and Agora. We will take a break and have lunch. After lunch, we will take a trip down to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – Artemis Temple. After an up and close view on the Temple, we will stop by a Turkish delight shop for shopping and stay overnight in Kusadasi.

DAY 03 KUSADASI PAMUKKALE (188km)(B/L/D)

After a good night of rest with tummies fed, we have a treat for the leather fans by visiting the leather outlet center for shopping. After that, we will continue on to Pamukkale to visit the ruins of Ancient City of Hierapolis and explore Cotton Castle, a World Heritage site, made of fascinating white terraces and pools created by calcareous hot spring waters flowing down the mountain. We will stay a night in Pamukkale.

DAY 04 PAMUKKALE CAPPADOCIA (240km)(B/L/D)

Rise and shine fellow travelers for today, we will be traveling to Konya. We will be doing a “photo stop” in a 700 years old ancient caravanserai (a ‘hotel’ for ancient traders and travellers on silk road) so memories of this historical place can be preserved and passed down to the next generations as well as to share it with friends and loved ones. Then, we visit the museum of 13th century Philosopher Melvana Celaleddin-i Rumi, in which it used to be the cloister for Mevlevi Dervishes. Mevlana was a philosopher and mystic of Islam; although not a Muslim of the orthodox type. His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness through love. To him and to his disciples, all religions are more or less the truth. Looking vis-a-vis the same eye of Muslims, Jews and Christians alike, his peaceful and tolerant teaching has appealed to men of all sects and creeds. Next, we move on to Cappadocia.

DAY 05 CAPPADOCIA (B/L/D)Hot air ballooning over the charming landscape during sunrise is optional in the daytime. As we continue ahead with the day, anticipate to be enchanted by the Under-ground City of Kaymakli, whereby it was once a home for the Christian refugees, averaging up to a shocking number of 15,000. Over here, you’d be privy to witness the ancient bedrooms, church, meeting hall and food storage rooms within this 8-story building that connects with one another by 30km length of corridors and passageways. A very important advice would be to take this rare chance to indulge in the beauty and work of Turkey’s handmade crafts portrayed through a Turkish carpet-weaving course. Following this, we will adjourn to our next visit to the Pigeon Valley and the fascinating frescoed rock churches and chapels at Goreme Open-Air Museum. Again, a “photo stop” will be made at Uchisar “castle” village, a fantasyland of strange and wonderful works of man and nature. Then, we will proceed to

Avanos Pottery Village, set on the banks of the Kizilirmak (Red River). Finally, the group will be given a chance to view Turkish semi-precious Turkish turquoise (the name given by Marco Polo which means color of Turks). We will put up a night in Cappadocia.

In the morning, we will drive along the well–known picturesque Salt Lake into Ankara – capital of Turkey. Our Ankara sightseeing highlights include the magnificent Ataturk Mausoleum and Museum, the final resting place of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who was regarded as the father of modern Turkey. The mausoleum features a mix of different architectural styles from various Anatolian civilizations museum. We will then proceed to Safranbolu for an overnight.

After breakfast, the group shall continue on to Safranbolu by bus. Safranbolu displays an extremely rich historical and cultural heritage through 1008 architectural structures displaying a good example of Turkish architecture, all preserved in their original environment. These structures include the public buildings such as Cinci Hodja Kervansaray and Cinci Hodja Hamam-bath complex, Mosque of Koprulu Mehmet and Izzet Mehmet Pashas, The Old Traditional Wooden House, The guild of shoe makers, the old city hall and fountains as well as hundreds of private residences

DAY 08 ISTANBUL (B/L/D)After breakfast, we will begin our Bosphorous Cruise trip. Here, you will be able to soak in the sights and sounds of Turkey’s Asia and Europe sector as you cruise through this water channel that is the very beat of life in Istanbul. Be prepared to witness the magnificent architecture structure of the buildings along the river and the interesting activities of our local people. The trip has been planned in details to ensure that there will be plenty of time for photo taking of Rumeli Castle and Antolia Castle build by the conquerer of Istanbul in 1453. Next, proceed to Istanbul City tour. Visit the Blue Mosque, also known as Mosque of Sultan Ahmet, which boasts a unique feature of 6 minarets. View its glorious interiors and distinctive blue tiles. Next, view the only remains of Hippodrome of Constantinople and Tulip Gardens, which consists 3 monumental columns and a fountain. This is where chariot races took place in the past. Then, visit St Sophia Church (Hagia Sophia), is a former Eastern Orthodox Church converted to a mosque and must see attraction because of its religious and architectural significance. Next, visit Topkapi Palace, once the seat of the Ottoman Empire. Presently, it is a museum palace with a wide collection of porcelain, antiques, holy relics and other treasures. Next, visit 500-year-old Grand Bazaar, a maze of over 4,000 stalls and shops selling leather goods, jewelers, handicrafts, ceramics, Turkish coffee and other local products.

You will have free and easy day before you return we proceed to transfer to the airport for your flight back home; bringing back wonderful memories and momentous souve-nirs from your Turkish vacation.

Emirates is reminding all passengers to check the permitted list of carry-on and checked-in items for safe and undisrupted travel this holiday season. To ensure the safety of passengers and crew, spare lithium batteries used for electronic devices such as cameras, mobiles phones and laptops are restricted from checked-in baggage. A popular item containing lithium batteries is the smart balance wheels also known as ‘hover boards’.Emirates restricts all smart balance wheels – with or without lithium batteries removed – from checked-in or carry-on luggage. “With the upcoming holiday season, we expect many passengers to be carrying gifts for their loved ones including the popular smart balance wheels. We prioritise the safety of our passengers and crew, and regret we will not accept these as part of checked-in baggage or as hand luggage. We urge all our customers to check the full list of restricted items before travelling for safe and undisrupted travels,” said Mohammed Mattar, Emirates’ Divisional Senior VicePresident – Airport Services. All liquids, gels and aerosols, pastes, lotions, creams, drinks and other items of similar consistency must be in containers with a capacity no greater than 100ml. Those carried in containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if the container is only partially filled. As with any busy travel period, Emirates is advising customers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure, and plan extra time to get to the airport. Early check-in is available at the normal counters from six hours before departure and from car park check-in counters from six to 24 hours before departure. Customers are also encouraged to check-in online or use the convenient Self Service Kiosks and then the baggage drop facilities to expedite their airport experience. Those checking in online are required to check in their luggage no later than 90 minutes prior to departure. Customers holding an e-boarding pass and travelling with carry-on bags only, can proceed directly to passport control and security clearance. Customers who check-in less than 60 minutes to theirscheduled flight departure will not be accepted. Boarding on all flights begins 45 minutes prior to departure, and gates close 20 minutes before take-off. These time checks will ensure the minimisation of delays and missed connections. Europe Through My EyesPart 1

By: Nadia Hamdan

London. Amsterdam. Berlin. Weimar. Rothernburg Ob Der Tauber. Munich.

Neuschwanstein Castle. Rome.

Year end is here and most people seem to have a bucket list of places they aim to visit next year. We heard of stories about places around the world a thousand times. You know the feeling of strongly wanting to explore a place you have only read about? Or the sense of familiarity with somewhere

you’ve never been to?

Last summer my husband and I chose Europe as our destination. Before going to Europe, we spent a lot of time researching things and places to do while we are there. We spent almost a month to cover places like London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Postdam, Weimar, Rothernburg Ob Der Tauber, Munich, Neutschweinstein and Rome.

We managed to get a good deal with Qatar Airways and German Rail pass for 4 days to travel around Germany and

some parts in Austria.

Travelling in London by foot can save time as many landmark located within walking distance to one other. Of course, should you prefer not to walk, the public transportation in London is easy and convenient. Busses and tube trains are easily accessible anywhere in the city. The architecture in London is so classic and Victorian. You’ll be able to appreciate its rich history and tradition.

We spent our first day in sunny London sightseeing the Tower of London and walked to the Palace of Westminster, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, London Bridge, and Monument to the Great Fire of London.

We were lucky to catch the ‘Blood Swept Lands and Sea of Red’ .The tower of London had been decorated in ceramic of poppies to symbolise remembrance of the soldiers lost in World War 1. The ceramic poppies were decorated by the ceramic artist, Paul Cummins and designer, Tom Piper. The sea of poppies was breath-taking. At a distance, it appears as if the poppies were red paint splashed on the meadow field, representing the blood lost to WW1.

After that, we stopped by the Buckingham Palace and took some photos with the lavishly designed gates of Buckingham Palace before proceeding to St. James Park. We took our time to enjoy the serenity of St. James Park with its diversepopulation of gorgeous English ducks.

Now I understood London better and contrast seems to be the highlight of London’s personality. One minute you could walk down the Trafalgar Sq. with artists drawing for your attention to support Gaza and in the next, you could find yourself queuing at the Oxford Street for free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. London has so much to offer to all walks of life. ; say you have a budget to stick to, don’t worry for you could still visit some art galleries for free.

Then, the night dawn on us, the temperature decreases; and when the wind stirs, you may get feel really cold regardless of the predicted temperature. We had dinner at China Town, a central hub for Chinese and Asian culture. A majority of the restaurants and cafes are located along the avenue.

If you are a huge fan of eating and shopping, you have arrived at the right place. Portobello market is full of vintage shops, souvenir shops, cafes and lots of seafood. We had the famous Italian Nutella pancake. Over here, you can find famous Spanish meals, Paella, Italian food, African food, and so much more, simply name it and it’s there! We spent hours exploring the market, scrutinizing the antiques and funky shops.

Portobello is very culturally enriching and visually interesting. You could find a lot of Afro/Caribbean products in here. If you are a music lover, it’s a must to visit the record store near to the market.

The colourful houses, shops and atmosphere are good enough reasons to visit the area. The marvellous, colourful terrace houses were captivating as were the grand detached houses with gardens.

Tips: If you are in London, do slot one day to Notting Hill and Portobello Market. A delightful representation of a charming place, rich with culture, the diversity of the tourists , good food andplethora of bizzare souvenirs to buy from.

Bricklane, the area itself is now extremely popular with London’s edgy and artistic crowd, featuring galleries, restaurants, markets and festivals throughout the year.

Bricklane is one of the area in London filled with amazing vibe such as the market, creative designs of graffiti on the walls, local street music, and the shops. We had some nice Peruvian food located by the old Truman factory, where they sell a variety of food choices and picnic tables. From indie shops to tasty cheap food, we discovered a whole lot of different things. We loved the street fashion with all sorts of styles. Much of the areas are accommodated by independent shops, urban edge while many of the walls and shop fronts are plastered with graffiti.

We love the idea of using shipping containers and it’s very stylishly done. Boxpark is basically a group of converted shipping containers made into cool fashion shops, lifestyle brands galleries and cafes. The location is located next to Shoreditch High Street overground station.

Located just off Bricklane, Rough Trade is a must-visit record shop if you are in London. You could wander around the shop for hours for the vinyl and books. Rough trade has an excellent selection of music. Nestled within Rough Trade, you will find yourself in a beautiful little café with internet access. Rough Trade is not only for music lovers, but also for those who enjoy reading books as it offers a fantastic selection of niche-y books. After several hours, we finally got out holding a bunch of vinyls and several books to bring home.

We did some shopping in Carnaby Street, the cheerful pedestrianised area just behind Regent Street. This area is home to many small independent boutiques and street wear. If you are shoes lovers, Carnaby has lots to offer. You’ll be able to find shops with the latest design of sneakers as well as the classic sneakers, in which are normally considered rare stocks or limited editions that in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To gauge a better comprehension of these, there are plenty of shops like Size ?,Footpatrol and Office.

We love walking around Soho and other interesting London areas that are within walking distance of Soho including Chinatown, Covent Garden, Piccaddily Circus and Mayfair. Soho seems to be an area with narrow streets and small apartments, but perhaps that’s the charm of it. Soho is the best place for a quick adventure of exploration. Our mission is to spend time digging through records in two of the highest ranking Music Records Shops in London, i.e., Sister Ray and Phonica. Phonica is one of Soho's best record stores. The best in design, overall service and definitely some of the best in selection. If you are into Electronica music, Phonica and Sister Ray are recommended with a good selection of records (vinyl and cd).

PART 2 : Amsterdam

EXPERIENCES

Amsterdam reminds me of colourful brick buildings and the canals. It was so relaxing to see the river and unique blocks of colourful building which some of it was built as early as 1600. We have spent countless hours walking the city and getting lost. That’s the beauty of it as we discovered new things along the way.

Dutch people are very environmentally friendly, so it is not a surprise to see them picking bicycle as their main transport to mobilise around. Amsterdam is the most bicycle-friendly city in the world. Dutch can easily tell if someone is new to the city by the way they cycle. We didn’t rent a bike since we decided to walk around Amsterdam. It was raining on the first day but that didn’t stop us from exploring the city.

We tried to capture as much activities as possible and decided to get a one-day pass. Our day pass covered museum ticket, canal cruising and most importantly Van Gogh’s entrance ticket to witness his masterpiece collection. Best tips to avoid long queue during summer is to get the ‘express queue’ ticket.

We took an early morning flight to Amsterdam with Ryanair. The weather was absolutely stunning with the sun finally appearing and to welcome us upon our arrival.

We covered beautiful places in Amsterdam such as Jordaan, Stedelijik museum, Van Gogh museum, Canal Cruise, Royal Palace of Amsterdam, and Rembrandt Haus.

The Van Gogh Museum was a true highlight of the entire Amsterdam trip. His personal story was so tragic and intriguing that this is a must-see. His early drawings morphed into the enthusiastic Oriental-type paintings. It was an honour to have such opportunity to see myfavourite Van Gogh work ‘The Potato Eaters’. It’s amazing to see the brush technique that he used to create its ‘rusticity’ and glows that comes out from the dark.

One downfall was that the security measures were really tight and we were not allowed to take any pictures. However, this is a necessary measure in order toavoid another burglary to happen again. In 2002, two Van Gogh paintings was stolen inn this museum.

Rembrandt was one of the greatest Dutch painters alive and also the most important in Dutch history. He worked and lived in this house around 1600.

The moment stepped into Rembrandt’s house, could almost felt like it was back in the past, watching him from a distance. His collections of rare objects fascinates us. You could even imagine him sleeping in the little box bed. The tour in Rembrandt House made us feel how people back in the day embraced their passion so passionately way before the technology took over. We found one of his self-portrait and thought to ourselves, well, perhaps the ‘selfie’ era had already started as early as Rembrandt’s era, and that we are merely catching up with the trend.

During the summer time, there will be a long queue before getting on the cruise as a result of the heavy traffic. While waiting, we took some pictures and talked about Dutch Empire and their glorious days.

It was nice seeing the city from a different perspective; however the audio we listened to wasn’t feeding us enough information. It's fascinating to navigate along the canal and hear the stories of the attractions in Amsterdam. The guide helped us understand better the history of the city and the essence of the Netherlands Culture and customs. Along the way, you could see carefree happy faces, relaxing, drinking overviewing the canal and waving at us.

We had to cancel our plan to chill at Vondelpark as it was pouring heavily on the last day. Although most Dutch could communicate in very good command of English, we wished we could speak just a little Dutch during our stay in Amster-dam. Well, another memory built, stored at the back of our brains and we are ready to move to our next destination Berlin.
