born in Utah, United States on 17 September 1900, was a founder of

one of the world's largest business empire, the Marriott Corporation.

Since 1993, the name was then changed to Marriott International.

The company is engaged in the operation of hospitals, hotels, and a

restaurant chain. One of the hotels affiliated with Marriott

International, JW Marriott Hotel is located in Jakarta's Kuningan

business district. After 2003, for the second time, the hotel became

the news again as the target of a terrorist bomb on Friday morning(17/7) then. Marriott businesses beer starts processing business

located in Washington in 1927. At that time, he teamed up with A &

W Beer and get the rights to sell Washington and surrounding areas.

At starting that business, he decided to marry Alice Sheets on June 9,

1927. Of the marriage, he gained 2 children. One son, Bill MarriottJr.., Continued to control the position of his father's business empire.

Bill became president and CEO of Marriott International.



From beer sales efforts, Marriot began expanding its business in

the restaurant. In 1927 also, he opened a family restaurant with

an additional menu Mexico. Restaurant called The Hot Shoppes

was eventually sold and famous. When developing therestaurant business, he expanded in the building contracting

business. Not satisfied with the existing business, Marriot

venturing into the world of hospitality. The first hotel he

founded over a motel the name is Twin Bridges Motor Hotel inVirginia. Starting from the hotel, business hotel chain later he

founded spread throughout the world. By the time he died on

August 13, 1985 at the age of 84 years, the company he founded

has had 1,400 restaurants, 143 hotels and resorts throughout

the world. However, data reported by Wikipedia as of

November 2007, there were 37 hotels operating worldwide

under the Marriott flag. Of course now growing number of

business units. In Indonesia alone, Marriott hotel located in

three major cities, namely Jakarta, Surabaya and Medan.
