The sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps) is a small,

omnivorous, arboreal, and nocturnal gliding possum

belonging to the marsupial infraclass. The common

name refers to its preference for sugary nectaruos

foods and ability to glide throught the air, much like

a flying squirrel.

Sugar glideris is one of many mammals that can fly.

This animal can fly because it has a thin flap of skin

between arms and legs. It has a claw too, it use to

climbing a trees and protector from predator, insidethat it has a long fluffy tail to keeping the balance

when it fly or climb.

Sugar gliders are found throughout the nothern and

eastern parts of mainlands Australia, Tasmania, New

Guinea and several associated isles, the Bismarck

Archipelago, Louisiade Archipelago, and certain islesof Indonesia.

Sugar gliders have a broad habitat niche,

inhabitating rainforests(wet or drysclerophyll forest

and acacia scrub) and coconut plantations in NewGuinea, prefferring habitats withEucalpytandAcacia

species.

The sugar glider has a body look like a squirrel.

The length from the nose to the tip of the tail is about

24 to 30 cm (12- 13 inches),and males and femalesweight 140 grams and 115 grams respectively. This

animal favorite food is Germanys worm and a few of

fruit.

The sugar glider has a thick, soft fur coat that isusually blue-gray, altought some have been know to be

yellow or other. A black strip is seen from its nose to

midway on its back
