Able to accept: fun & approachable

Unable to accept: rather stay humble

A suggestion to not build something too alien and stand out from the environment

S u p e r s t i t i o n s

A superstition of a female spirit during the night at the villa and campsite area. But it

wouldn’t affect anyone if the noise level is low.

A r c h i t e c t u r a l I n f l u e n c e s

Phase 2 is inspired by Perak’s kampung house.

Villa is inspired by Heritage elements (motifs, mosaic tiles)

The resort is envision to be grown back into nature.

Over time, the creepers will cover parts of the building.

Elements to consider while designing the NAC

C o n s e r v a t i o n

Tanjung Satu is meant to be conserved, it would be a real cultural village in a long term

period of planning.

NAC is suggested to incorporate some design strategies/elements to fit in the original

cultural village.

Relocation of the mockup villages is allowed but the destroying of these villages is not allowed

No cut and fill is allowed for the site, the contour has to remain

The maximum height limit for any building on the site is 3 story's

VERNACULAR STYLEPromotes natural ventilation

LIGHTWEIGHT MATERIALSEasy construction and also has lower heat gain

Page 69: Belum Rainforest Resort Site Analysis

ADAPTIVE OF

PASSIVE DESIGN

Provide passive ventilation

Orientated to prevailing wind, less obstructed openings

Example: Perforated steel panels, Bamboo cladding façade, punctured bamboo wall

SELECTIVE MATERIALS

Low embodied energy material

On site material – Reduction of transportation cost and time

Organic material – Decompose to reduce waste

Example: Bertam leaves for roofing, bamboo ceilings, earth rammed wall
