Speakers’ Profiles
Stefan PETTERS, Executive Chairman, guo-Business Development, Vienna,
Austria born in Vienna in 1956, B.Sc. in Digital Technology, had built a
business under the name Electrovac, focused on Temperature Management
Applications servicing the worldwide electronic components, automotive and
household appliance industries for over 25 years. After divesting his Electrovac
interests, guo – Business Development was founded to continue the roll-out of
several Intellectual Property Rights for Green Tech Applications.
Stefan PETTERS had been awarded several Technology Innovation prices.
Martin SCHMIDT, Managing Director, Owner and Founder of ENERBON Sdn Bhd
founded the company in July 2010 and has its focus on complete Renewable Energy
solutions as well as Infrastructural development based on Sustainability and EE.
With small and “Mini” Biogas Power Plant modules, ENERBON occupies a very distinct
market segment and provides infrastructural concepts for non-industrial
applications. The small waste to energy units and mini biogas power plants are
especially designed for the development of rural areas with no, instable or
insufficient electric power supply to replace diesel and gasoline gensets. ENERBON
since the foundation is involved in numerous CDM Projects as well as CDM
monitoring and provides compliant Gas Analyzer for Biogas, Landfill Gas and Coal Bed
Methane. In addition, ENERBON is very active as PMO due to the joined partner and
is in progress to develop several palm oil mill biogas projects as well as solar,
hydro, geothermal and energy efficiency projects. Strong experience in process
organisation and ISO 9000 was requested to consult and streamline Malaysian
local companies in area of ISO 9000, 14000 and 18000, which will also lead to
environmental friendly impact and energy savings. ENERBON established strong
reputation for complex monitoring and waste to energy solutions in various projects.
Mr. Martin Schmidt is active as speaker since 2008 on several events in SEA with
focus on CDM Monitoring, Waste to Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
Baptiste KERVYN, Chief Executive Officer of BIOTEC INTERNATIONAL ASIA Sdn Bhd,
Agronomical Engineer (Belgium) with an MSc in Water Management (UK). Extensive
exposure agricultural, renewable energy and water management projects and
consultancy activities in several countries (Africa, Latin America, Asia). After
joining the Biotec Group in 2005 he has actively participated in establishing Biotec
International Asia in 2008. He has promoted the development of large biogas to
energy projects in South East Asia under the company’s Bionexus banner. Baptiste
KERVYN has developed an extensive experience and network in the SEA agro-
industries and is currently expanding the activities of Biotec Group in Indonesia and
East Malaysia advocating the recycling of organic matter produced by agro-industries
into profitable revenues streams (energy, organic fertilizer and irrigation).

Bas MELSSEN, Executive Vice President – Strategic Innovation Projects,
Agensi Inovasi Malaysia has been living in Malaysia and working in the region
since 1997 and is a Permanent Resident in Malaysia. His background is in strategy
consulting and marketing. Prior to joining the Special Innovation Unit in the
Prime Minister's Office, he headed up the Malaysian office for a Global strategy
consultancy; was the Marketing Director for a regional Consumer Goods
company; and Global Commercial Director for an Australia based Consumer
Goods company. Internationally Bas has established commercial ventures with
companies such as Kraft (India, China, Philippines, Indonesia), Danone (Middle East,
Indonesia, Thailand, Russia), Unimilk (Russia), Bright Dairy (China), TetraPak
(Global), Heinz (Australia), Dongwon (Korea & Japan). In Malaysia he has worked on
consulting projects for: Petronas, Sapura, MSC, Guinness Anchor Bhd, Maxis,
Hong Leong Bank, Munchy's, E&O Properties Bhd, HLA, Super Coffee,
Magnum4D, BP, BSC and others.
Huey Yee YOONG, Business Development Manager, BIODOME® Asia SDN BHD,
Kirk Group. Huey has numerous years of experience in Business Development with
both multinational & local firms with a firm track record of growing the
businesses in new markets. Multilingual in both Asian & European languages, Huey
has extensive experience with a variety of clientele ranging from small private
businesses to large governmental boards in the region. Huey joined the
BIODOME Asia team in 2011 with the focus of managing the regional Business
Development where she sees a great potential in Asia's renewables market. Her
expertise includes design & technical optimization of biogas projects, project
management & contracts negotiation. She is also part of the European Union
Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EUMCCI)’s Energy, Environmental &
Green Tech (EEGT) Committee where private sector industry feedback is channeled
directly to Malaysian governmental ministries for policy & legislation formation.
Lars HJORTH, Business Development Director, Wastewater – Veolia Water Solutions
& Technologies, was born in 1944 and graduated from the Aarhus Teknikum in 1970
in Design Electrical Engineering. He started his career in Denmark. With over 36 years
of successful experience in sales/marketing and project development positions with
emphasis on market penetration and expansion, project management,
manufacturing and general management, Lars was the Managing Director of CST
Engineering from 1996 to 2011.
In June 2011 CST Engineering became part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies
and Lars was appointed Wastewater Business Development Manager for the South
East Asia region with the responsibility to grow the activities of the company in the
food and Palm Oil mill markets.
Since 2005 Lars has largely contributed to the successful implementation in Malaysia
of the first biogas power generation plants for major palm oil mill companies such as
Sime Darby and Felda.
