1. Abu Hurrairah (R.A) - (Died 59 Hijri, aged 78) Narrated 5374 hadith and hadover 800 students.

2. Abdullah Ibn Abbas - (Died 68 Hijri, aged 71) Narrated 2660 hadith.

3. Aisha Bint Abu Bakr - (Died 59 Hijri, aged 67) Narrated 2210 hadith.4. Abdullah Ibn Umar - (Died 73 Hijri, aged 84) Narrated 1630 hadith.

5. Jabir Ibn Abdullah - (Died 78 Hijri, aged 94) Narrated 1560 hadith.

6. Anas Ibn Malik - (Died 93 Hijri, aged 103) Narrated 1286 hadith.

1. Said Ibn Musayib - (Died 105 Hijri) Learnt hadith from Uthman, Abu Hurrairah,Aisha and Zaid (R.A).

2. Urwah Ibn Zubair - (Died 94 Hijri) Was the nephew of Aisha (R.A) and learnt

hadith from her as well as; Abu Hurrairah and Zaid (R.A).

3. Salim Ibn Abdullah Ibn Umar - (Died 106 Hijri) Learnt hadith from Abdullah IbnUmar (R.A)

4. Nafii - (Died 117 Hijri) Was the servant of Abdullah Ibn Umar and teacher of

Imam Malik and is mentioned in the Golden Chain.

First Written collections of hadith

Sahifa Sadiqa

Written by Abdullah Ibn Umar Ibn Al-Aas, containing around 1000 hadith which are all

found in Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal.

Sahifa Hummam Ibn Munabbih

Was a student of Abu Hurrairah and these hadith are found in Sahih Al-Bukhari and

Sahih Al-Muslim.

How hadith is transmitted

8 Methods:

1. Listening to transmitter and memorising2. Presenting it as in the person it is presented to recites it back to the narrator and

the narrator confirms it.

3. Permission as in the recipient is given permission from the narrator to narrate the

hadith.4. Handing down books of hadith which are handed to the recipient from narrator

and they are given permission to further transmit the hadith.

5. The hadith is made known by hearing from one person to another however thenarrator is unclear.

6. Narrator gives permission at behest of recipient.

7. The hadith is found.
