INTRODUCTION• Hortibot is a future commercial produced and

robust tool carrier.

• The steering is primarily based on a computer-vision-based guidance system.

• The operator is an unskilled worker, whose primary job is to monitor one or several weeding robots instead of performing the labor-intensive work manually.

MAIN FUNCTION

1. Weed control.

• By utilizing more advanced computer vision navigation, a row band width of 5 cm is considered between inter and intra-row weeding area (2.5 cm on each side of the row center defined by plant positions).

• enable an automatic execution of one-sided repetitive weeding for outdoor gardening

HOW IT WORKS

• carry light weeding tools for parcels of 5-6 rows

• based on computer-vision-based guidance system

• capable of passing over several parcels with visible rows autonomously based on a new commercial row detection system from Agrocom Vision (former Eco-Dan Inc., Denmark) with minimum use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

• use a standard and 2 m wide weed harrow mounted on the HortiBot for weeding 0 to 3 weeks before seeding which should be approximately 1 week after bed.

• the HortiBot navigate on the basis of computer vision recognition of the topography of the tracks between beds.

• The weed harrowing procedure is repeated 1 to 3 weeks after seeding.

ADVANTAGES

• It did not take too much time for labours training.

• Reduce one of the largest farm expenses which is labour cost.

• Doing repetitive tasks like cultivating and other forms of mechanical weeding.

• Efficient use of herbicides, thus reduce herbicides cost.

DISADVANTAGES• Highly cost for short-term

• Difficult to find the spare parts since, it is not widely used around the world by the farmers

• Reduce the job opportunity

• Need professional operator to operate the machine

• Only used in small scale farm.

CONCLUSION

• Hortibot is new invention technology that very useful to increase the farming productivity. So, the government should take an action by promote this machine to our local farmers.
