AbstrakThis final project tried to examine the use of Kang Guru Magazine "TheJoy's Club" as a medium to develop students' reading comprehension skill injunior high school for the eighth grade of SMP N 3 Talang in academic year20101201 1. The objective of this study was to find out whether Kang GuruMagazine can improve the students' achievement in reading comprehension skillor not.The subject of the study was the eighth grade of junior high schoolstudents of SMP N 3 Talang. She chose two classes fiom class VIII A and VIII Cfor her experiment. The one was as an experimental group and the other was as acontrol group. The writer used multiple-choice reading test to collect data.The result of the final test showed that there was an improvement of thestudents' reading comprehension skill after the students were taught by usingKang Guru Magazine "The Joy's Club ". It can be seen fiom the average of posttest of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Besides, theresult of t-test was 6.33 and the theoretical t-value for the degree of freedom of 44was 1.66. Therefore, the obtained t-value at significant level of 0.05 was greaterthan the critical value. This means that the improvement was significant. Based onthe result above, Kang Guru Magazine "The Joy's Club" can be interesting andappropriate reading material for the junior high school students. Hence, it may besaid that the Kang Guru Magazine "the Joy's Club" will have a better role toimprove the students' ability in reading comprehension.
