THE COURSES

The course is an outcome of practical and validated model implemented by ICECD over the last 25 years in Indiaand many developing countries. It has evolved innovative and result oriented approaches and tools forempowering NGOs. The one year course is an innovative initiativefocusingonpreparing newgeneration leaders forcreating/managing NGOsprofessionally.

Managing rural development is not a new activity. What is perhaps new is treating themanagement processes for

rural development as a field for systematic research and development to create a DIFFERENCE. Thecourse aims to create and strengthen the skills andcompetenciesin managingthe rural developmentprograms.

The course trainsmanagement professionals to play a key role in their organization's strategic management and in strengtheningrelationships within the enterprise and with stakeholders and public, in congruence to the business managementpolicies. Targeting individualswanting to associate withor starta micro/small/medium enterpriseswith investmentranging from25lakhs to2 crore and above.

TheNGOs comprehensively focusing on the role of NGOs, Development components of NGOs, NGO ProjectManagement and Development, Organizational Capacity Building and Human Resources Development,Sustainability, Growth,Change andDevelopment.

The course is structured to aquire understanding of rural and gender development for immediate practical applications. It would also acquaint students with planning, implementingand monitoring developmental initiatives covering Integrated Rural Development, Rural Economic DevelopmentManagement, Social Development Management, Human Resource Management and DevelopmentManagement.

The (For Own and Family Enterprises) course providesspecialization and unique opportunities to start own business/enterprises or to expand/diversify existing/familybusinesses. The inputs would empower students to deal with intricacies of current industrial scenario, anddevelop their ideas intogrowth orientedbusinesscoveringIntegrated SMEManagement,StrategicMarketing andCommunication, Leadership in Family Business Management, Corporate Venturing and Management for SMEsandManaging Growth.

With the technological and communicational revolution the world has become smaller. Education remainsincomplete unless a global perspective is attached to it. It has become imperative for students to broaden theirvisiononthe globalmap atanearly stage.

After the completion of the one-year Diploma Courses, ICECD offers 6 weeks internship (optional) with anorganization/company in any of the Asian/African countries. This internship will prove to be an important avenueforstudentsto get handsonexperienceofpracticalwork,whiledeveloping a global perspective.

The faculty is an ideal mix of regular and visiting faculty with high academic credentials, field experience andinternational exposure. Thedistinctive researchand project consultancyoffered by faculty members ensures thatthePGDM offers contentswhicharecontemporary and global inperspective.

Start their own NGO or work in International Development and Funding Organizations, NGOs in India andother countries.

Work as Development ResourcePerson,Trainer, Facilitator and DecisionMaker with NGOs, GovernmentDepartments or thecorporate sector.

Undertakeresearch, monitoringandteachingprofession.

DissertationStudents will undergo organizational internships (Dissertation) of a period of 6 weeks. The internship coursefocuses on many latent attributes, which do not surface in the normal classroom situations. These attributes areintellectual ability, professional judgment, decision making ability, inter-disciplinary approach, skills for datahandling, ability in written and oral presentationandsense of responsibility, etc. Students will getan opportunity touseall these abilities during internship.

FieldVisitsField interaction is arranged to acquaint the students with grassroots realities of development programmes andprojects. Here, students get an opportunity for independent assessment of programmes / projects and theirprocesses.

Project Report PreparationAs development organization are venturing into business, students knowledge on all aspects of commercial andsocial business is essential. While developing project reports, students learn application of tools, techniques andpreparation of bankable project reports. Students are attached to faculty members for seeking necessaryguidanceon continuous basis.

Students on successful completion of the course will be awarded certificate Post GraduateDiploma inManagement (for NGOM,RDM orEME)by ICECD, institute recognizedby GujaratUniversity.

The candidate must hold a Bachelors Degree awarded by any of the university in India or other educationalinstitute established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as university under Section 3 of UGC Act1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by Government of India. Students appearing for finalyear degree examination, at the time of application, can also apply. Due consideration is given to candidatesbelonging to the weaker sections, Schedule Caste (SC), Schedule Tribes (ST) and differently abled categories ofstudents.Theadmission processconsistsofentranceexaminationandpersonal interview.

Scoresofcompetitiveexams like CAT, CET, MAT and GCET etc. will begivendue consideration.
