SHIPBOARD OIL POLLUTION EMERGENCY PLAN (SOPEP) - Reg 37, Annex I of MARPOL 73/78 AND SHIPBOARD MARINE POLLUTION EMERGENCY PLAN (SMPEP) - Reg 17, Annex II of MARPOL 73/78 Oil tankers of 150 gross tonnage and above and ships other than an oil tanker of 400 gross tonnage and above shall be provided with an approved shipboard oil pollution emergency plan (SOPEP) and ships of 150 gross tonnage and above certified to carry Noxious Liquid Substances in bulk shall be provided with an approved a shipboard marine pollution emergency plan (SMPEP) for Noxious Liquid Substances. Recognized Organizations acting on-behalf of Malaysian Government are authorized to review and approve SOPEP and SMPEP for Malaysian ships in accordance with the following resolutions adopted by International Maritime Organization and written in English. I. Resolution MEPC.54 (32) – Guidelines for the Development of Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plans II. Resolution MEPC.86 (44) – Amendments to the Guidelines for the Development of Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plans III. Resolution MEPC.85(44), as amended by resolution MEPC.137(53) - Guidelines for the development of shipboard marine pollution emergency plans for oil and/or Noxious Liquid Substances IV. Resolution A.851(20), as amended by resolution MEPC.138(53) - General principles for ship reporting systems and ship reporting requirements, including guidelines for reporting incidents involving dangerous goods, harmful substances and/or marine pollutants. AND SHIPBOARD MARINE POLLUTION EMERGENCY PLAN (SMPEP) - Reg 17,

Annex II of MARPOL 73/78

Oil tankers of 150 gross tonnage and above and ships other than an oil tanker of 400 gross tonnage and above shall be provided with an approved shipboard oil pollution emergency plan (SOPEP) and ships of 150 gross tonnage and above certified to carry Noxious Liquid Substances in bulk shall be provided with an approved a shipboard marine pollution emergency plan (SMPEP) for Noxious Liquid Substances.

Recognized Organizations acting on-behalf of Malaysian Government are authorized to review and approve SOPEP and SMPEP for Malaysian ships in accordance with the following resolutions adopted by International Maritime Organization and written in English.
