Life Project – Arabic Quran ( عربيا قرآنا ) – Surah Qaf 19

Surah Qaf – Ayah 19

( رة وجاءت ت سك ل ك ب ال حق ال مو ه ك نت ما ذ ن تح يد م ) (And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what

you have been avoiding!")

This is the start of the journey to eternity, it begins with the ‘transit’ – which is the life of the

barzakh ( البرزخ حياة )

Its meaning (معناها) The Word (الكلمة)

( جاءت+ و ) And it came o (و) and (عطف) o (جاء) came (أتى), presented itself (حضر) o (ت) this is ( التأنيث تاء ), it is in the past tense (ماض)

Notice that the verb is in past tense to show as if it already happened – meaning surely, it is for certain we will all die. Everything is already written in the Preserved Tablet, subhan Allah.

وجاءت

‘Stupor’ o It comes from (سكر), when the mind is absent ( العقل غياب ) just as being

intoxicated o It is a condition that affects the brain ( عقله على تعرض حالة ), especially in

two cases, at times of anger (الغضب) and at times of obsessive love .(العشق)

Allah (swt) gave us the brain as a safeguard to know what is right and wrong. The person is not dead at the moment, but it’s the agony of death. And at that

point, the brain is absent and only what is in the heart will come out – so the heart will speak. If he is a believer, the words of belief will come out and if he is a disbeliever, he will speak words of disbelief, subhan Allah. We ask Allah (swt) to grant us the good end. Ameen.

The reality of the person appears before death at the time of agony of death. And notice Allah (swt) did not say when death ( ت ) comes, but (ال مو رة ت سك ال مو ) – when the agony of death comes.

رة سك

( موت+ ال ) the death o (ال) the, for defining (تعريف) o (موت) death, comes from (مات), which is the exiting of the soul ( خروج

it also means removal of power ,(الروح We need to be really careful of what we do and say while we are still alive.

ت ال مو

( حق+ ال+ ب ) with the truth o (ب) with, to show accompaniment (المصاحبة) and attachment (االلصاق) o (ال) the, for defining (تعريف) o (حق) truth, the highest of reality ( الصدق اعلى ), opposite of truth is

falsehood (الباطل) The truth is ( هللا رسول محمد هللا اال اله ال ) – so when death comes, this truth will

accompany it. If a person disbelieved, he will see the truth, but there is no benefit at the time of death because he had all of his life to believe.

close to us.

(ما) ‘which’, (الموصولة), this is referring to death (الموت) ( انت+ كان ) you were

o (كان) were, meaning in the duniya (الدنيا) o (انت) you

ك نت ما

( ه+ من ) from it o (من) from o (ه) it, referring to death (الموت)

Death is a reality and it is a truth we cannot deny.

ه ن م

( حاد+ ت ) you are avoiding o (ت) ‘you’, this shows that it is in the present tense (مضارع) o (حاد) to escape (هرب), to be far (بعد), to incline (مال), to turn away (نفر)

When you see the truth and you cannot do anything at that point, then this is a problem. For this reason Allah (swt) is telling us about it now.

Everyone wants to avoid death, by taking treatments, etc., but it is a reality we must all face.

تح يد

May Allah (swt) accept from all us and forgive us. Ameen.
