AGENDA

0830 – 0900 Registration 0900 – 0915 Welcome 0915 – 0935 Gas Monetization, Addressing the Financial Risks of Metering

The design and operation of Fiscal and Sales Allocation Metering systems is of crucial importance to gas trading parties as it is all about metering the money flow. Systematic errors in metering systems can represent a large financial loss to one of the trading parties. Accurate measurements of the traded volumes and the accompanying gas quality are critical for correct billing, especially in the LNG trade. Therefore, DNV GL has set up a best industry recommended practice for design and operation of such systems. This method covers both technical and organizational aspects from ISO 10012 (Management of Metering). This presentation will provide an introduction to mitigation of risks on these aspects, highlighting the financial importance of correct measurements and calibration.

Lennart van Luijk Senior Specialist, Flow Metering & Data Analysis DNV GL

0935 - 1005 Downstream Gas Transmission & Distribution Practices

Key features of Gas Transmission and Distribution projects include the correct design of the gas piped network to ensure security of supply, reliability and capacity to match predicted gas demand profiles through master planning and network design incorporating ‘Synergi gas’ software. The presentation also briefly covers asset management systems and their value for gas operating companies along with pipeline integrity issues and some innovative repair solutions. Kevin Young Principal Consultant & Group Leader Asset Integrity Solutions DNV GL

1035 - 1055 Operational Excellence – Helping our Clients to Optimize their assets Operations Excellence in the Oil & Gas industry is a journey towards achieving world class operational performance that can minimize costs while safeguarding life property and the environment. Many operators already adopt forms of operational excellence and thus DNV-GL is not proposing new systems for this but is combining its expertise and knowledge to identify the most appropriate ways for individual operators to achieve their ambition. The key components of this that will be discussed are i) maintenance excellence ii) asset technical integrity and optimization iii) operating integrity and management Paul Edward James Head of Section Asset Risk & Integrity Management DNV GL

SPEAKERS

Lennart van Luijk Senior Specialist Flow Metering & Data Analysis DNV GL Lennart van Luijk has more than 10 years of experience in the fields of fiscal metering of natural gas, gas quality measurements and data analysis including leading Artifical Intelligence techniques such as Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms. He contributed to the DNV GL Fiscal Metering Classification Model, where financial risk is linked directly with operational risk. Lennart has carried out numerous Fiscal Metering audits in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and is currently stationed in Kuala Lumpur to address the financial risks of metering in this region with a growing demand for gas. Having led several projects in which automated data processing is implemented, he has helped operating companies with innovative techniques to improve quality and volume measurement robustness, reduce human error and limit cases of lost and unaccounted-for-gas (LUAG).

Kevin Young Principal Consultant & Group Leader Asset Integrity Solutions DNV GL Kevin Young is Principal Consultant & Group Leader for DNV GL’s Asset Integrity Solutions section, based in Singapore and has over 36 years’ experience in gas transmission and pipeline operations. Kevin has operated as Pipeline Integrity Engineer (Asset Risk Management) with Northern Gas Networks & National Grid prior to leaving the UK with responsibility for ensuring compliance to pipeline legislation (PSR, PSSR, COMAH etc.) and ensuring the integrity of network through risk assessment, on line inspection, defect assessment and corrosion control.
