NORWAY IN MALAYSIA 7
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Royal Norwegian Embassy’s July 2017 version of the catalogue of Norwegian companies in Malaysia. I hope you will find it useful.
As you will see, many Norwegian companies have been here for a long time, like Aker Solutions, formerly Kvaerner. Jotun also has a long and proud history in Malaysia and two large factories as well. DnV-GL runs a regional presence from their office here in KL. Jordan produces its high standard toothbrushes and other oral hygiene products in Malaysia. Telenor has a thriving business through DiGi, and the Wilhelmsen offices manage ships all over the world and about 10 000 sailors out of KL. Yara sells Norwegian fertilizers all over the country. As you will see in this directory, there are many more.
Norwegian investments in Malaysia are large and have increased considerably over the last years. The Government Pension Fund Global (“The Oil Fund”) has invested in about 200 companies in Malaysia, at a value of close to 19 billion Ringgit. Norway is now the 9th largest investor country in Malaysia.
Norwegian companies and industries are recognised worldwide for having the highest ethical and moral standards with zero tolerance for corruption of any kind. I am proud of the Norwegian firms here in Malaysia, with whom the Embassy has a close relationship. We have some of the flagships of Norwegian industry here, and I hope more will come.
The Embassy has open doors for Norwegian companies, and we are eager to help newcomers to start up business in Malaysia.
So please, feel free to contact us, any time.
Telephone: +60 3 21710000. Email: [email protected]

NORWAY IN MALAYSIA 9
The main objective of MNBC is to provide a forum for discussions and exchanging views on business conditions. Both domestic and international affecting Malaysian and Norwegian firms operating in Malaysia. MNBC is a non-profit making body and is financed entirely from members' subscriptions, entrance fees and surpluses arising from specific activities.
We have a wide range of benefits for all our members. Such as 24 hours’ access to MNBC Online web site to stay in touch with the very latest news, networking events e.g. luncheon talks and MNBC’s quarterly Water Holes etc. Members have opportunities to meet and get personal advice from fellow members and to invite business associates to the various events.
As a member, you will be invited to attend the regular ”Water Holes” social networking meetings, normally held at the residence of the Norwegian Ambassador. Other events include the annual Scandinavian Christmas Dinner where you may invite clients and business associates to meet political leadership within selected ministries and senior personnel in targeted departments and government agencies.
For corporate members, we offer free listing at the MNBC Online web site ("Norwegian Companies") with a full-page company profile. The listing is continuously updated at MNBC Online web site. This represents an excellent opportunity to promote your products and services. Corporate Members’ logo will appear in the rotating add on to the MNBC front page and much more. For many years MNBC has been supporting various Charity Organizations with sizeable donations. Worthy recipients are selected by the board of directors. We are of the opinion that this is an area that MNBC and the Norwegian community can make a positive and lasting impact in Malaysia by helping deserving and underprivileged children get a chance to fit into a more competitive environment.

NORWAY IN MALAYSIA 55
The Norwegian Malaysian Association was started
in 1990, as a non-commercial, voluntary
organisation, to promote cultural, educational and
commercial contacts between Malaysia and
Norway.
When NMA was first founded, knowledge about
Malaysia in Norway was limited but over the years
Malaysia has become a popular business and
tourist destination. As a result the role of NMA in
Norway has evolved.
NMA now provides a forum where Malaysians in
Norway, Norwegians and others interested in
Malaysia can meet, share experiences and not the
least indulge in our love of the Malaysian culture
and cuisine.
We have several events a year, the Annual
General Meeting (AGM) where practical,
organisational details are discussed, get-togethers
to commemorate Malaysia's diverse religious and
cultural heritage and most important, the Merdeka
Day celebration. Culinary contributions and culture
play a significant role in all these gatherings.
NMA aims to help Malaysians, living in Norway or
sent to Norway by their employers, by giving them
practical assistance when requested or needed.
We have a board with 6 members elected for a
two-year term at the AGM, and one permanent
advisor, who is also the founder of the association.
