s the public policy think tank for the Perak State Government, IDR works with a community of
network, which includes academicians, social enterprises, government agencies and private companies, to ensure that the organisation realises its objective of achieving the Perak Amanjaya vision and mission.
In line with this, IDR via its close connection in Japan paid a working visit to Akita Perfecture in Japan. With the help of Morinosuke Kawaguchi who is the CEO of Morinoske Co. Ltd and speaker in the previous PIDD 2014, the 5-person team led by IDR CEO Dr. Mazalan Kamis met with several government officers and corporate profiles to discuss in possible collaborations and to learn about each other’s culture and working policies.
Akita prefecture is located some 450 km north of Tokyo, Japan, and is similar to Perak especially in terms of the management of its environment resources. Akita Perfecture is famous for the Shirakami-Sanchi forest, much like Perak has its Belum Rainforest. Akita Perfecture’s is also dominated mainly by agriculture, fishing and forestry.
Seeing the vast similarities, IDR believes that seeking collaboration with government and industry players in this region will greatly help the state in achieving its objective of becoming a fully developed state.
According to IDR CEO Dr. Mazalan Kamis, IDR can also learn about their productive and effective working culture from its new partners in Japan.
As the think tank for the Perak State Government, IDR continuously seek collaborations and work with a network of community to realise the state's Perak Amanjaya vision and mission.

PERAK ADDRESSING 98% OF GE PROMISES
#012-FEBRUARY 2015
meeting was held with the Unit Perancangan Ekonomi Negara (UPEN), Jabatan Perancanga Bandar & Desa (JPBD) and
Universiti Institut Teknologi Mara (UiTM) to discuss on data information, issues and actions taken, and challenges regarding Perak Amanjaya’s 3Q.
The Amanjaya 3Q Index is a measurement of the performance of the State of Perak towards achieving Perak Amanjaya. The index takes into account three key principles of citizen participation in various sectors of the economy, rising incomes and standards of living and a decent and sustainable life. This index is constructed based on 40 indicators grouped into three sub- indices, namely: quality opportunities, quality income and quality of life. The indicators that make up the index are referred from national and international institutions including the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), MOHE, DOS, MACC, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), UNESCO, UNDP and OECD.
The meeting also saw a discussion on BN’s 2013 manifesto where it was highlighted that 98% of the promises that were made during the last general election (GE) have or are being addressed.
IDR is a public policy think tank for the Perak State Government and was initiated by Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, in his effort to transform Perak into a developed state – a vision that is laid out and elaborated into a blueprint named Perak Amanjaya.
IDR works with a community of network, which includes academicians, social enterprises, government agencies and private companies, to ensure that Perak achieves a dynamic and sustainable economy; a high and equitable distribution of income; the creation of well-educated and highly skilled human capital; and a vibrant private sector.
To that end, IDR formulates and advocates public policies that reflect the three main objectives of Perak Amanjaya: Quality Opportunities, Quality Income and Quality Living.

IDR CONTINUES TO BUILD RAPPORT
THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUOUS LEARNING
ollowing a visit to Japan recently, IDR CEO Dr. Mazalan Kamis continued to build IDR’s rapport with the Japanese by
meeting with representatives from NTT DoCoMo and Dentsu, of which both are international advertising and public relations companies based in Japan. He also met with the Special Secretary to Deputy Minister of Ministry of Communication Malaysia, Ybhg Dato' Mohd Shafie Harun. The meeting was about the future investment industry in Malaysia and to tap on IDR’s well established network as well as research for Perak.
The delegates also discussed about the possibilities of exploring E-Wallet as a new business investment in Perak. E-wallet is an online prepaid account where one can stock money, to be used when required. As it is a pre-loaded facility, consumers can buy a range of products from airline tickets to grocery without swiping a debit or credit card. It allows an individual to make electronic commerce transactions. This can include purchasing items on-line with a computer or using a smartphone to purchase something at a store.
Increasingly, digital wallets are being made not just for basic financial transactions but to also authenticate the holder's credentials. For example, a digital-wallet could potentially verify the age of the buyer to the store while purchasing alcohol.
