His Highness Amir audiences PAI official laments neglect suffered by industrial sector MoH prohibits staff taking turns to work, rest during working hours KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The industrial sector is not the priority of the govern- ment and this has nega- tively affected the sector although Kuwait was the regional leader in this field from the 1970’s until the invasion — when interest in the sector started to dwindle, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting Vice-Board Chairman of the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) and board member of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Fahad Al-Jouan. In an interview with the daily, Al-Jouan affirmed the procedures to establish industrial companies in other GCC member-States are faster than in Kuwait. He lament- ed this sector has been neglected and it is clear that it is suffering as there is no attentive ears to indus- try problems. He underscored the fact that the big responsibility in this regard lies on the government which must have a vision and long-term strate- gy that must not change whenever new ministers or Cabinet members are appointed. He said this negli- gence has resulted in the reduction of factories which serve the local market, so the local products have become expensive due to the high cost of production. He disclosed the reform docu- ment enacted by the government consists of only a few pages and do not translate into a comprehensive plan for the country; especially since a large part of the document is just general talk, instead of radi- cal solutions to the prevalent prob- lems. Knowledgeable health sources disclosed that Ministry of Health prohibits all workers in its hospitals and specialized centers, including doctors, nurses, administrators and technicians from taking turns to work and rest during official work- ing hours and shifts, reports Al-Anba daily. In a statement, sources asserted the decision is based on lack of commitment observed on the part of some employees working in the hospitals and specialized center who take turns to work and rest during official working hours or shifts, causing overcrowding of patients and visitors due to suspen- sion of work. The Ministry of Education has signed contracts with companies for the maintenance of air con- ditioning systems and elevators in schools and educational sec- tor buildings for the next two years. According to educational sector sources, the contracts are valid until the end of 2018 with a total value of KD 8,136,741. The course, open for Kuwaitis hold- ers of the General Secondary Schools Certificate, scientific section, will be organized in cooperation with the Kuwait Oil Company Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). Head of the team of Kuwaitis con- tract-workers in the oil sector Mohammad Al-Jaffar told a press con- ference today that the year-long pro- gram aims to secure jobs for Kuwaiti students as part of Kuwaitization in the field. EXTREMISM: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is try- ing its best to fight extremism, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting Undersecretary Eng Farid Emadi. In an interview with the daily, the undersecretary pointed out that extremism in Kuwait has yet to be considered a phenomenon but there are individual acts. He then thanked God that everyone here enjoys peace and security. EXTOLLED: Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah praised here on Sunday the technology applied within the sewage treatment plant in Sulaibiyah plant, describing it as “distinctive and pioneering”. Sheikh Abdullah said in a press statement after an inspection tour of the plant that it has proven itself as one of the leading and distinctive plants in the world in the use of reverse osmosis tech- nology and purification of sew- age. He added that the station can accommodate more than 425,000 cubic meters since the start of operation in 2004, expecting to reach 600,000 cubic meters grad- ually during the investment peri- od over 30 years. EXTREMISM: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is try-ing its best to fight extremism, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting Undersecretary Eng Farid Emadi.

In an interview with the daily, the undersecretary pointed out that extremism in Kuwait has yet to be considered a phenomenon but there are individual acts. He then thanked God that everyone here enjoys peace and security.

He added that as a son of the ministry, he has worked in many of its administrations and he has future development plans which focus on 11 aspects; including balancing the requirements of the ministry towards achieving goals and taking into consideration the effects of outside variables at a time of achieving institutional balance based on group work.

He shed light on the fact that competition between sections of the ministry is good; so long as it leads to development, not back-wardness.

❑ ❑ ❑EXTOLLED: Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah praised here on Sunday the technology applied within the sewage treatment plant in Sulaibiyah plant, describing it as “distinctive and pioneering”. Sheikh Abdullah said in a press statement after an inspection tour of the plant that it has proven itself as one of the leading and distinctive plants in the world in the use of reverse osmosis tech-nology and purification of sew-age. He added that the station can accommodate more than 425,000 cubic meters since the start of operation in 2004, expecting to reach 600,000 cubic meters grad-ually during the investment peri-od over 30 years. He explained that Kuwait is today one of the advanced countries in the field of sewage treatment, adding that he became acquainted with the entire operations in the plant. (KUNA)

DEPARTED: Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah departed the country on Sunday to Brussels where he would head the State of Kuwait delegation taking part in the 25th GCC-European session and hold talks with senior European lead-ers.

The Deputy Minister’s delega-tion includes the Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Walid Al-Khubeizi, Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC Affairs Ambassador Nasser Al-Mzain and Assistant Foreign Minister for the Deputy Minister’s Bureau Affairs, Ambassador Ayham Abdulatif Al-Omar. ❑ ❑ ❑HAPPINESS: Husain Al-Anzi, a citizen residing in Jahra, expressed happiness over the failed coup attempt in Turkey in his own spe-cial way, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Anzi, who was in the city of Bursa in Turkey, slaughtered a sheep in celebration of the victory of the Turkish. He disclosed that upon hearing news on the coup, they rushed to the center of the city like many other people.
