Re-structuring of State Staff Organization The recent re-structuring of the State Staff Organization has been completed on 22nd November 2007. Enclosed is the latest organization chart of the State Staff Officers. The State Staff Officers has been grouped into various departments according to their various functions, with each department headed by senior officers as below:

SJAM New Uniform Guidelines The National Circular on SJAM New Uniform Guidelines was recently released on 1st of December 2007. Kindly refer attached pages for the new uniform changes. It is NOT COMPULSORY yet for members to immediately switch to the new uniform changes, however for members who are buying the new uniform, kindly comply with the new uniform changes. All officers are advised to adhere to the new uniform changes. The new uniform items / paraphernalia are available for sale at the Headquarters. The new uniform guidelines are available at www.sjampenang.org.my and pasted on the Notice Board of the Headquarters.

  • 3. First Aid Courses Beginning January 2008, all areas are to conduct their own First Aid Courses for members / divisions within their areas. The State Headquarters will provide the necessary facilities and resources if needed. Upon completion of the First Aid Course, the respective area must submit the forms and reports to the Headquarters for processing. Course syllabus, forms and report format are available from the Headquarters and www.sjampenang.org.my. 4.     5. SJAM 100 Years Centenary Celebrations The St. John Ambulance of Malaysia will be celebrating its 100 years anniversary in 2008 since its establishment in 1908. In conjunction with the Centenary Celebrations, the National Headquarters has lined up a host of activities: (tentative dates included)

    i) National Exhibition - To be held in National Museum and selected State Museums - To exhibit our SJAM history - The Centenary 1st Day Cover and Commemorative Coins will be released

    ii) Climb Mount Kinabalu - Organized by SJAM Sabah - Each state to send representatives to hike up Mt Kinabalu - Interested members, start training now for a selection process to be announced later

    iii) National Blood Donation Campaign & Mass CPR

    - To be held nationwide - Health promotion campaigns will be held in conjunction with this event

  • iv) National First Aid & Home Nursing Competition (end of May 2008) - To be organized by SJAM Johor - Venue: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor

    v) National EMT Competition (mid 2008) - The first ever such competition to be held - Planned to be held in Hospital Pulau Pinang - Open to all paramedics and providers of pre-hospital care, including EMAS

    vi) National Conference

    - Organized by the National Headquarters

    vii) International Cadet Camp (10th 16th December, 2008) - Organized by SJAM Selangor - To be held in Templers Park - Estimated participants: 2000 pax

    viii) National Review (13th 14th December, 2008)

    - The National level Inspection, held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur - To be attended by members and officers from all states

    ix) Grand Dinner (14th December, 2008)

    - The highlights of the Centenary Celebration - To be held at Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

    6. Collection of Recycle Items The Headquarters is setting up a Welfare Fund to help needy members. For a start, we are collecting recycle products / items such as newspapers, magazines, boxes, plastic containers which can be turned into cash. All members and officers are encouraged to drop off these materials at our collection area under the porch of the new extension building at Headquarters. Further information, kindly contact officers in-charge: Mrs. Molly Tan (012-4288383), Mdm. Chng Saw Lun (012-5825607) and Ms. Soon Gee Chin (016-4992974). 7. Sale of St. John Ambulance T-Shirt and Uniform items The St. John Ambulance T-Shirt and new uniform items are available for sale at our SJAM Penang Headquarters at a discounted price. Members and officers can make purchases during office hours. 8. Upcoming Activities / Events

    i) State First Aid & Home Nursing Competition 2008 The 2008 State First Aid & Home Nursing Competition will be held as follow:

    ii) Advanced First Aid Course & Advanced Home Nursing Course

    Both these courses will be held in the early 2008. These courses are intended to train members /

  • officers as a 1st step to become qualified First Aid Trainers and Home Nursing Trainers. Details as below: Date : early 2008 Course Coordinator : Dr. Sham Kumar, Consultant Anesthetist, SSO (Training & Development) Pn. Hjh Norpisah Yusop, State Nursing Officer Eligibility of participants : Open to all members/officers with the following criteria:

    a) at least 16 years of age b) valid Basic First Aid / Home Nursing with at least 1 year of re-exam

    Announcement : Interested members/officer to register at SJAM Penang Headquarters. 9. Report on Recent Activities

    i) Hand-over Ceremony of the 2 Medic Bikes

    The hand-over ceremony was held on 11th December 2007 at our Headquarters. Our State Commander, Dato Dr. Yee Thiam Sun received 2 Medic Bikes on behalf of SJAM. The 2 Medic Bikes were sponsored by Dato Syed Mohamed Aidid b. Syed Murtaza, Chairman of MODENAS and Datuk Peter Teoh, Managing Director of Passion Trading Sdn. Bhd.

    During the ceremony, Dato Dr. Yee also handed over the appointment letter from National Headquarters to Dato Syed Mohamed Aidid, for being appointed as our State Deputy President of SJAM Penang.
