Section A: Directed Writing

{35 marks}

{Time suggested : 45 minutes}

You are a reporter with a local newspaper. You visited the site of a minor earthquake near a hill

resort and interviewed some witnesses and victims of the earthquake. Use the notes below about

the incident to write your newspaper report.

Damages and Losses

Rock stumbled down- road

Uprooted trees

Homes –covered-mud and debris

Farms and orchards- demolished

Casualties

Three buried alive

Four injured-hospitalised

An elderly –perished

Factors aggravating the earthquake

Volcanic eruption- neighbouring countries

State the place and day of the incident

Use all the notes given

Include a comment and a hope given by the victims/witnesses

Section B: Continuous Writing

{Time suggested : One hour}

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics

1. Describe your favourite place for relaxing when you feel stressed out

2. Good hygiene should be taught at an early age. Do you agree?

3. The value of saving money.

4. Narrate a story about an orphan who finally found out his/her true identity.

End your story with: “ …….He would live his life to the fullest.”

5. „Actions speak louder than words.‟

Relate this proverb with your real life experience.
