Maher was an adventurous boy who liked to read adventure stories. He enjoyed reading

Last Sunday, Syafika and her sister vvae at hom~. I heir parents had gone for a wedding reception. Both of them did not want to go as they wanted to study for the year-end examination.

Syafika was very suspicious of strangers. She decided to keep quiet. After a while the men went next door. En. Safiee, the owner of the house was not at home. His new maid was out in the garden alone. Syafika watched from her window but she did not warn the maid as she was afraid. She saw the maid opening the gate to let the men into the garden. However, instead of just checking the garden, she saw them going into the house. The maid went in as well and they did not come out for a long time. Syafika strained her ears to hear what was going on. She thought she heard struggling noises. Without further delay. she telephoned the police.

The police arrived a few minutes later. They surrounded the house and shouted to the men to give up. The men suddenly appeared on the roof, ran to the next house and jumped down. However the police was waiting and they were caught immediately. When they went in, they saw the maid tied up on a chair. After untying her. they rang En. Safiee who came rushing home. Luckily for En. Safiee, whatever money stolen was recovered.

The police praised Syafika for her good judgement and quick action. En. Safiee took Syafika and her sister out for an ice-cream and cinema treat later in the week. He was thankful to have such helpful neighbours.
