Tan Sri Datuk Asmat bin KamaludinAged 60, Malaysian, IndependentNon-Executive Director and Chairmansince 3 March 2003. Tan Sri Asmatholds a Bachelor of Arts in Economicsfrom the University of Malaya, and alsoholds a Diploma in European EconomicIntegration from the University ofAmsterdam. Tan Sri Asmat has vastexperience in various capacities in thepublic service and his last position wasas the Secretary-General of theMinistry of International Trade andIndustry, a position he has held from1992 to 2001. He has served asEconomic Counsellor for Malaysia inBrussels and has worked with several

international bodies such as ASEAN,World Trade Organisation and the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation,representing Malaysia in relevantnegotiations and agreements. Tan SriAsmat has also been actively involvedin several national organisations suchas Permodalan Nasional Berhad, JohorCorporation, the Small and MediumScale Industries Corporation (SMIDEC) and the Malaysia External TradeDevelopment Co-operation (MATRADE)while in the Malaysian Governmentservice. He currently sitson the Board of Sapura Motors Berhad,as well as a number of other private limited companies in Malaysia andIndonesia.

Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Abdul Aziz bin ZainAged 81, Malaysian, Non-ExecutiveDirector since 17 March 2003. In 1954,Tan Sri Aziz qualified as a Barrister-At-Law from Middle Temple in London,United Kingdom, and went on toassume many positions with the federaland state legal departments, includingthat of Senior Federal Counsel andSolicitor-General. He had also previouslyserved as the Attorney-General of Brunei.Tan Sri Aziz was appointed a Judge ofthe High Court of Malaya in 1964, andsubsequently, as Federal Judge of theSupreme Court of Malaya. Since hisretirement in 1972, Tan Sri Aziz has heldpositions as Chairman of the National

Electricity Board of Malaysia (now knownas Tenaga Nasional Berhad) and theMalaysian Institute of Management. TanSri Aziz was also bestowed an HonoraryDoctorate of Law by the AngliaPolytechnic University, United Kingdom,in recognition for his service in the fieldsof law and education. Currently, Tan SriAziz also serves on the Boards of HongLeong Properties Berhad, MetrojayaBerhad, CI Holdings Berhad and UPACorporation Berhad.

Tan Sri Aziz has chosen not to be re-elected as Director pursuant to Section129(6) of the Companies Act 1965 andshall be retiring at the conclusion of thecoming Annual General Meeting of SCOMI.

Datuk Hamzah bin BakarAged 60, Malaysian, Independent Non-Executive Director since 17 March 2003.Datuk Hamzah holds a Bachelor ofScience with Honours in Economicsfrom The Queen’s University of Belfast,United Kingdom and a Masters Degreein Public Policy and Administration fromthe University of Wisconsin, Madison,United States of America. He waspreviously attached to the EconomicPlanning Unit of the Prime Minister’sDepartment where he served in variouspositions within that department for 12years. Thereafter, he joined the PetronasBerhad group of companies where heserved for 20 years until his retirement

in June 2000. Datuk Hamzah is currentlyon the Boards of CIMB Berhad,Commerce International MerchantBankers Berhad, Crest Petroleum Berhad,UEM World Berhad and several privatelimited companies.

Datuk Haron bin Siraj Aged 59, Malaysian, Independent Non-Executive Director since 17 March2003. Datuk Haron graduated from theUniversity of Manchester, UnitedKingdom, with a Bachelor of Arts withHonours in Economics and also holds aMasters Degree in DevelopmentEconomics from Williams College,United States of America. Datuk Haron

started his career as an AssistantController with the Ministry of Commerceand Industry. He subsequently servedas the Principal Assistant Secretary,and later as the Under Secretary, in theMinistry of Primary Industries until 1980.Subsequently, he served as the MinisterCounsellor (Economic Affairs) of thePermanent Mission of Malaysia inGeneva, Switzerland, and returned toMalaysia to join the Ministry ofInternational Trade and Industry,holding various directorship positions,and was later appointed as DeputySecretary-General (Trade) in 1990.Datuk Haron subsequently served asPermanent Representative of Malaysia

Dato’ Mohamed Azman bin YahyaAged 40, Malaysian, Non-ExecutiveDirector since 17 March 2003. Dato’Azman holds a First Class HonoursDegree in Economics from the London

School of Economics and PoliticalScience, United Kingdom and is amember of the Institute of CharteredAccountants in England and Wales, theMalaysian Institute of Accountants and aFellow of the Malaysian Institute ofBanks. He previously held the positionsof General Manager of BumiputraMerchant Bankers Berhad, ExecutiveDirector of Amanah Merchant BankBerhad and Group Executive Directorof Amanah Capital Malaysia Berhad.Dato’ Azman was appointed by theGovernment of Malaysia to set-up andhead Danaharta Nasional Berhad andsubsequently became its Chairmanuntil 2003. Zulkefli bin Yahya Aged 50, Malaysian, Non-ExecutiveDirector since 17 March 2003. EncikZulkefli graduated with a BachelorDegree in Social Sciences, havingmajored in Economics and Law, fromthe University of Canberra, Australia.He is also a member of the MalaysianInstitute of Management. He has beenin the unit trust industry for almost 10years. is an associate member of CPAAustralia. He began his career withSime Darby Berhad under itsmanagement trainee programme andover the ensuing 5 years, held positionsin finance and accounts with variouscompanies within the Sime DarbyBerhad group. He moved on to TimeTelekom Sdn Bhd as a tariff analyst in1995 before joining Kumpulan FimaBerhad in 1996 as the Assistant VicePresident of the Finance Division. EncikMukhnizam was the Head of theFinance Division for Nationwide ExpressCourier Services Berhad from 1999 to2003. He is currently an ExecutiveDirector in Hyrax Oil Sdn Bhd.

Foong Choong HongAged 43, Malaysian, Non-ExecutiveDirector since 17 March 2003. MrFoong holds a post-graduate degree in Management Studies majoring inFinance, from Middlesex University,United Kingdom. He also holds a Mastersin Business Administration from theIrish International University. Mr Foongstarted his career with Robert FlemingMerchant Bank in the United Kingdomas a Senior Economist responsible forSouth-East Asian markets and as anadviser for pension funds and insurancecompanies on investments in South-EastAsia. One of his key achievements washis significant role in the promotion of

the Taiwan Republic of China Fund, whichwas Taiwan’s first officially approved fundfor foreign investors. Mr Foong returnedto Malaysia to form Bintan International(M) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture companywith Powers Supermarkets (UK), anAssociated British Foods public listedcompany, to develop a Far Easternsourcing house based in Malaysia. MrFoong also plays a strategic role in theFar East Investment Committee of multi-national companies for the identificationof investments and development ofbusiness opportunities. He is currentlythe Managing Director of Asian AssetGroup Sdn Bhd and a director of AsianAsset Management Sdn Bhd.

With the exception of the disclosure on pages 128& 129 with regard to Tan Sri Datuk Asmat binKamaludin, Dato’ Mohamed Azman bin Yahya,Datuk Hamzah bin Bakar and Encik Zulkefli binYahya, none of the Directors are involved in anyconflict of interest with Scomi Group Berhad.
