    MENTERI BESAR JOHOR

Praise be to Allah SWT. It is only by His grace and blessings that we can once

again participate in this meaningful event that is the 3rd Digitalised International

Invention, Innovation and Design (DIIID) Competition Johor 2020.

The matters of “creativity and innovation” have grown in importance nowadays in

this digital world, plus with the theme for this year’s event, “Globalising Digital

Innovation”, it is certainly a very suitable one. As we are all aware, Malaysia is

moving towards a developed nation status and today, with the advent of IR 4.0, the

initiative taken by UiTM Cawangan Johor is a wise step in the face of mounting

    challenges.

Preserving the culture of innovation is vital as it produces generations of pupils,

students, educators as well as professionals who can think creatively and are able

to generate new ideas. This surely promotes positive impacts on educational

institutions, organisations, and the nation. It is hoped that events like this will be

mushrooming an intellectual discussion, allows the participants to be academically

liberated and forges meaningful networking among them.

I would like to congratulate UiTM Cawangan Johor for organising this competition.

I am even more delighted that this year the university has been able to continue its

accomplishment in challenging itself into organising the competition through

digitalisation for the third time. This is a symbol of success for UiTM Cawangan

Johor to promote the culture of innovation and creativity at the national level and

    beyond.

I wish all the best for both the organising committee and the participants of this

event. I also wish that all of us keep inventing, innovating and designing for a better

    Malaysia.

    Thank you.

  • FOREWORD BY VICE CHANCELLOR

PROF. EMERITUS DATUK IR. DR. MOHD AZRAAI KASSIM VICE CHANCELLOR

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All the praises and thanks be to Allah s.w.t. the Giver of blessings and gifts. First and foremost, allow me to extend my most gratitude to the Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Johor for hosting this 3rd Digitalised International Invention, Innovation and Design (DIIID) Competition Johor 2020. My highest appreciation also goes to the departments, faculties, individuals and all parties who have directly and indirectly work hand in hand on this impactful event. DIIID 2020 is hoped to be an evocative platform for educators, students, the public and industry to embrace and showcase their ability to develop and produce new ideas or products and further create explosions of innovations. It is expected that through DIIID 2020, high-quality products and impactful ideas would be discovered and thus, aims for commercialization. With assistance from supervisors and organizational support, I am beyond overwhelmed by the participation, and hope to see a continuous effort to uphold the mission and vision of UiTM. • FOREWORD BY RECTOR

    PROFESSOR DR. ISMAIL AHMAD RECTOR

UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM) CAWANGAN JOHOR

I am pleased to welcome all of you to the 3rd DIGITALISED INTERNATIONAL INVENTION, INNOVATION & DESIGN COMPETITION JOHOR 2020. This competition is a platform for those who want to gain recognition by bringing their creative and innovative ideas to a higher level. As the proud organiser of the competition, we are welcoming all inventors, innovators and designers, from schools as well as public and private higher learning institutions from both locally and abroad to this annual innovation event. 2020 is a very difficult year for all of us. While the repercussion of COVID-19 threatens to dismantle many recent development milestones, the academics line must be not ceasing. This year, we have once again brought the 3rd Digitalised International IID competition in Malaysia where the competition is organised in a digital platform. Following the digitalisation of IID which has started during the first DIIID in 2018, this leap is innovative in itself and is in line with the tagline of UiTM Cawangan Johor, “Simfoni Alam, Digital dan Bestari”. Going digital is essential to remain competitive in the 4.0IR. Innovations therefore have to move towards championing this. As such, it is timely for us to further embark on the digitalisation of the invention, innovation and design competitions. The digitalisation of the competition has witnessed the organising team in UiTM Cawangan Johor to step up the game, and take the challenge of innovating the competition by using a virtual setting where participants are required to only send a 3-minute multimedia presentation together with their entry form and supporting documents online. Apart from simplifying the then tedious matters of conventional competitions, the participants can simply get it done in such a short time and energy-savvy steps, and focus more on the high impact of their innovations, inventions and designs. Furthermore, it all can be done in the comfort of their home especially during this pandemic outbreak. The 3rd Digitalised International IID Competition Johor 2020 represents the efforts of all parties involved. Thus, I am thankful for the ceaseless efforts of the organising committee from both campuses of UiTM Cawangan Johor and the excellent cooperation from all the appointed, well-experienced judges. Thank you also to all participants for their contributions in this event. Finally, on behalf of UiTM Cawangan Johor, I would also like to thank all sponsors whose generous support is highly appreciated. The hard work and good cooperation by all parties are the key features to the success of this event. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you.

  • FOREWORD BY DEPUTY RECTOR RESEARCH, INDUSTRIAL LINKAGES & ALUMNI

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR. SAUNAH ZAINON DEPUTY RECTOR

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Merciful, praise to Allah SWT for the ability and strength of UiTM Cawangan Johor to organise the 3 rd Digitalised International Invention, Innovation and Design (DIIID) Competition. On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone to the competition. UiTM Cawangan Johor has annually hosted IID Competition since 2009. In conjunction with

the university’s theme of digitalisation, this year marks the 3rd time for us to organise this event

in a virtual platform. This is in line with the theme for this year; “Globalising Digital Innovation”.

UiTM Cawangan Johor as the organiser believes that this competition can act as a platform

for future collaborations and ventures to commercialise present innovations and innovate

future technologies among researchers, inventors and industries.

It is hoped that this competition which brings the innovators together; will bring insights, pave

ways for a more creative future and make the impossible possible. And, will benefit all

participants and provide new dimensions in the advancement of invention and innovation

agenda for future development. The success of this programme is expected to trigger off the

creation of more innovators and thinkers who will participate in future innovations and

    inventions events.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to the executive management of UiTM Cawangan Johor for the support given to the Research, Industrial Linkage and Alumni Department to organise this event. • INTRODUCTION

For the past 10 years, UiTM Cawangan Johor has hosted Invention, Innovation and Design

Competitions (IID) from national to international levels. In 2018, we successfully organised the

1st Digitalised IID Competition in Malaysia. This year, UiTM Johor maintains its pre-eminence

because of the encouraging acceptance of the prior episodes. The incorporation of digital

online features changes the ambience of traditional IID with physical booth exhibition style.

For this digital realm, exhibitors are no longer needed to set up exhibition booths and prepare

physical posters. The digital competition offers online entry submission and the results will be

informed online to the winners. The grand finalists and overall winners of each category will

be invited to a prize giving ceremony to celebrate their achievements. Cash and prizes of over

    RM10,000.00 is up for grabs.
