Dear Catherine,How is everyone at school? I miss all of you dearly. I am adjusted well to my new home and school. While we first moved to Kuantan, I was quite sad. I wished her father had not got a transfer here. I missed my old home and also all of you back of Kuala Lumpur. My mother, however, talked to me but said that I should take this opportunity to explore a new place. She also encouraged me to make new friends. I realised she were right. That evening I went to a beach nearby. I was read my favourite novel, Twilight what a girl greeted me. She said that was her favourite book too. Her name is Alisha. I soon found out that we will be going to a same school. The next day, Alisha meet me on the school gate. Even though we are not in the same class, she introducing me to my classmates. Question 2

Read the following book review. Then, answer questions (a) (j).

This book A Pirates Treasure is written by Harry Lim and Selvi Rajan. It is about two boys named Kee Jun and Ariff. They come from poor families. They want to help out their families but do not know how to.

One day, while collecting firewood at a jungle near their home, they found a treasure map. According to the map, they first had to go to Lilos Island to get the key to a treasure chest. After they had found the key, they had to go to Kemin Island where the treasure chest was buried.

Kee Jun borrowed his fathers old boat. The boys then packed a few things and sailed towards Lilos Island. Along the journey, the boys met a few obstacles. The boys also saved a dolphin and a turtle in the process.

I found the book interesting to read. The story is rather unusual and makes you think, I especially liked the ending. You can get this book at either Pita Bookstores or TTM Books.

(10 marks)SECTION C(20 marks)(Time suggested: 20 minutes)Question 4Read the article below.

There are many ways you can take at home to help save the environment. If you have a garden, you could do a compost to encourage better plant growth. You could make a compost with kitchen scraps. You should also plant trees in your garden as trees absorb carbon dioxide and provide shade. Furthermore, plant native plants as they need less watering. In your house, please turn off electrical appliances when you are not using them. Did you know that up to 30% of power used by television sets is used while they are turned off? You should also use your windows to control the temperature. When the weather is hot, open your windows. The breeze from outside will keep you cool and remove stale air. Furthermore, good air circulation throughout your home saves the cost of running an air-conditioner. Also remember to turn off the lights when they are not in use. You are only throwing money away by leaving them on. As much as possible try to recycle. You should have four separate waste baskets for paper, glass, metal and organic waste. Make sure that the contents end up in the correct recycling bins. Also avoid using disposable products, such as plates, cups, napkins and cutlery. Use reusable towels and dishwashing cloths in place of paper towels and disposable dish sponges. If you have a printer at home, use recycled paper for your printer. Double side your printing and give scrap paper to your younger siblings or turn it into note paper for the phone table. You should also turn off the computer every day. Furthermore by turning off the computer at night, you also reduce any risks of overheating.
