2. Saving water3. Recycle activity

First, for saving electricity. We are saving in term of electricity usage and reduction of bill at the end of the month. We collaborate with individual parent, Teachers and Parents Association (PTA), National Power Supply (Tenaga Nasional Berhad, TNB), Department of Works (Jabatan Kerja Raya, JKR-Electricity) and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).

Second, for saving water. We are also saving in term of water usage and the reduction of the bill at the end of the month. We are collaborating with Global Environment Center (Non-Government Organization, NGO-GEC), Johor Water Supply Corporation (Syarikat Air Johor, SAJ), The Commission of National Water (Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara, SPAN), individual parent and Teachers and Parents Association (PIBG).

Last but not least, for recycling activity we managed to earn some side income and consultation when we are having collaboration with SWCorp Malaysia, South Waste Management Environment Sdn. Bhd. (SWM Environment), Iskandar Malaysia Corporation, Johor Bahru City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru) and Teachers and Parents Association (PIBG).

We gained a lot of benefit from this project. Our school managed to reduce operation cost, earn side income, managed to get new engagements and knowledge with related agencies and non-government agencies together will build engagements for further opportunity.

Our aim is to created low carbon society with sustainable mentality for school pupils and wide community so that they are known, aware and implement in their daily life.

3. Background information or reasons why the school created this programme

We are an educational organization under Malaysia Ministry of Education (MoE). Our school community practice energy saving since 2014. Besides that, our organization also under Department of Johor Education (JPNJ) and Johor Bahru District Education Office (PPDJB). We are located in Johor Bahru City Center as the key player in Iskandar regional development. Our policy also is similar with the main organization to create a better environment in the future.

The main reason for this programme was implemented because the school administration realized the increase of water and electricity bill as well as garbage dumping among student and teachers. Thus in order to curb this thing the school administration came out with this programme.

Due to increasing water and electricity bill as well as the usage in our school, our school decided to conduct a proactive step to avoid excessive usage of it. So, at the end of 2013, we devised a plan on how to save water and electricity plus promoting recycle habit to the school community.

4. Objectives/goals of the programme

The objectives of this programme is:

1. To increase awareness about CO2 emission and how it will affect our daily life.2. To educate student as well as teachers and school community to minimize the usage of water and electricity plus to promote the importance of recycling activity.3. To save electricity and water where at the same time it will be affected the reduction of the cost.4. To change wasting habit among individual in school.5. To reduce school management overhead cost into the minimum level.
