Muhibbah Engineering (m) Bhd and the
steel fabricator arm of the Muhibbah
Group.
Small and Medium Enterprise Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp. Malaysia), an agency under the
Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will be organizing their annual exhibition,
“SMIDEX 2017” from 15th – 17th November 2017 at the Malaysian International Trade and
Exhibition Center (MITEC) Kuala Lumpur.
As one of the nominated Exhibitors, MSI are invited to briefing session on 2 November 2017.
Some details of the discussions are as follows:
• The first ever Conference in MITEC after the
SEA Games. On that note, YAB Dato' Sri Haji
Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak
will be officiating the event on 15 November
2017.
• All exhibitors to set up the booth on 14
November 2017 between 9.00 am to 12.00
noon.
• Allocation of Exhibitor Badges are given based
on respective booth size.
• MSI booth falls under item no.1 and maximum
5 badges are allocated. Please refer to
proposed list of MSI Staff as in Annex 1.
• MITEC Do’s and Dont’s
• No outside food;
• No slippers;
• No unauthorised recording;
• No shorts/t-shirts;
• No smoking;
• No selling goods or displaying goods or
services for sale;
• No helium balloons;
• No parking at the loading bay
• Any breach of this will lead members of
exhibitors to escort out of MITEC Exhibition

The 20th SME Annual Showcase & Conference 2017
(SMIDEX) was the largest established SME showcase in
Malaysia bringing together SMEs, Large Companies and
Multi-National Corporations to showcase the latest
products, services, and technologies for the global
market. A total of 173 people attended the program
consisting of MITI, Agencies under MITI and students
from UNITAR.
SMIDEX 2017 Exhibition
Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) together with the agencies under it (MIDA, MATRADE, SME CORP, MPC, MIDF, SME BANK,
HDC, MAI & MSI) held the "MITI Day 2017" Program ( East Coast Zone) on 19 November 2017 (Sunday) from 8.30am to 5.30pm at Grand Riverview
Hotel, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
The program was officiated by YB Dato 'Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of MITI. Over 5,000 visitors attended the program consisting of SMEs,
foreign embassies, undergraduates, fresh graduates, associations / Business booths, Bumiputera investors and locals.
The first day of MITI Day was held on 17 October 2016 at the MITI Tower of Kuala Lumpur while this year the North Zone level program was held
on May 6, 2017 in Meru, Ipoh, Perak.
The MITI 2017 (East Coast Zone) Day was held to further strengthen the relationship between MITI as well as agencies, and the public and
showcase functions that MITI and agencies cover. Among the roles of MITI and agencies are:
i) Planning, drafting and implementing industry development policies, international trade as well as investment;
ii) Promoting foreign and domestic investments; and
iii) Improving productivity and competence of the country in the manufacturing sector
The MITI Day 2017 (East Coast Zone) program is divided to four (4) main concepts namely Seranta (Outreach), Entrepreneurship, Employment
Opportunities and Investment.
Interestingly this is the first time a Dialogue TN50 & Small Town Hall Session has
been held with YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed. This is aimed at giving the
opportunity s for people to have a dialogue session directly with YB Minister and
for MITI to gather views and aspirations of the participants and entrepreneurs of
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on trade and development which include
Industry 4.0, e-Commerce and Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ), as well as
Government initiatives in the development of SMEs in Malaysia.
Organizing Day MITI 2017 (East Coast Zone) is expected to foster a better
understanding of customers and societies about the functions and roles of MITI
and the agencies which further reduces the gap between agencies, government
and people, in line with the government's approach of service to the people.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and its agencies organized the 'Melt The Ice
Innovation Challenge' Program on 21 November 2017 (Tuesday) from 7.30 am to 2.00 pm. The program
aims to reinforce creative and innovative cultural values among MITI Citizens and Agencies. This
Challenge also provides the platform for MITI Citizens and Agencies to use creative problem-solving
methods in order to be able to think unobtrusively in producing innovative, and practical ideas.
A total of 64 participants represented MITI and the Agencies. Participants were required to compete in
five pitstops namely MPC, MIDA, SME Corp, Matrade and finally at MITI. Prizes were presented by
YBhg. Pn Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, MITI's Deputy Secretary-General (Strategy and Monitoring)
to winners who were crowned the most creative and innovative group

MSI was invited to the MBAM One Build Construction exhibition & conference at KLCC on 2-4 November 2017. MBAM ONEBUILD aims to bring
construction industry players under one roof for all construction needs. The highly anticipated event will create a welcomed platform for industry
players to generate new relationships, have an exchange of ideas, to learning up latest innovations and to make good business, better. The exhibition
was further enhanced by the co-organised Conference that addressed current issues facing the industry and industry players.

SMIDEX 2017 Launching & Conference SMIDEX 2017 has been launched by YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia on 16 November 2017. The biennial SME Conference
organised by SME Corp. Malaysia is back this year with a special focus on digitalisation of SMEs. Themed ‘Embracing Change, Enhancing Gain’, this
Conference will deliberate on opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) especially on how those in the traditional sectors and least prepared
take up the challenges and reap the benefit of digital transformation. The two days Conference held on 15 and 16 November 2017 created a platform for

EABC-MSBC Forum for Entrepreneurs: How to Utilise Regional Agreements and How to Benefit from Mega-Projects? AEC–RCEP–BRI–DFTZ–KL Singapore HSR–Iskandar Malaysia
On 15 November 2017, MSI was attended EABC-MSBC Forum for Entrepreneurs: How to Utilise Regional Agreements and How to Benefit from
Mega-Projects? AEC–RCEP–BRI–DFTZ–KL Singapore HSR–Iskandar Malaysia at Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This event is organised
by the East Asia Business Council and Malaysia-Singapore Business Council. The objective of this event is to provide a forum for entrepreneurs to
be exposed to opportunities through ASEAN, RCEP, OBOR and Mega projects namely – DFTZ, KL-SG HSR, ECRL and Iskandar Malaysia. Keynote
address was delivered by YB Deputy Minister (Trade) of International Trade and Industry.
Launching Ceremony of the IBS & Building Materials Supply Chain
2017/2018 DirectoryThe Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Construction Industry
Development Board, Malaysia (CIDB) have jointly launched the Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) and Building Materials Supply Chain
2017/2018 Directory (“the Directory”) which, with the contact details of over 4,000 companies and relevant stakeholders acts as a comprehensive
point of reference for the construction industry particularly in the area of IBS and building materials. Co-developed by MIDA and CIDB, the Directory details industry players in the local building materials space, including those of manufacturers,
suppliers, contractors, as well relevant stakeholders; thus, capturing the entire ecosystem of local building material players in its catalogue. The Directory was launched by YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, the Minister of MITI. Also present were Dato’ Azman Mahmud, Chief Executive
Officer of MIDA, Tan Sri Dr. Ir. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, Chairman of CIDB, and Dato’ Ir. Ahmad ‘Asri Abdul Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of CIDB.

has been conducted on 28 November 2017. The focus can includes how risk should be managed by organisation and provide a risk management
methodology for reference.
