B. Diagram 8.1 shows a method which is used to detect leakage of pipes laid
underground. A little radioisotope substance is dissolved in the water that flows in
the pipes. A Geiger Muller tube which is connected to a ratemeter is then moved
over the pipes according to the layout plan of the underground pipes.
