1. National Dual Training System Curriculum (NDTS-C)

The NDTS Curriculum is defined as the documented training structure to be carried out by theindustry and the training institutes comprising practical and theory components of the changingtechnologies, to produce k-Workers.

2. Concept and Structure of Malaysia Skill Certificate System

DLKM Level 5 - Management Level(Malaysian Skills Advance Diploma)Competent in applying a significant range of fundamental principlesand complex techniques across a wide and often unpredictable varietyof contexts. Very substantial personal autonomy and often significantresponsibility for the work of others and for the allocation ofsubstantial resources feature strongly, as do personal accountabilitiesfor analysis and diagnosis, design, planning, execution andevaluation. Specialise of technical skills should be demonstrated.

DKM Level 4 - Supervisory Level(Malaysian Skills Diploma)Competent in performing a broad range of complex technical orprofessional work activities performed in a wide variety of contexts andwith a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy.Responsibility for the work of others and allocation of resources isoften present.Higher level of technical skills should be demonstrated

MTM Level 8: - Senior Maister Technologist(Malaysian Maister Technologist)Mastery over range of skills and knowledge in developing an originalunderstanding and extend an area of knowledge or professionalpractice. It reflects the ability to address situation that involved highestlevel of complex judgement, highly varied and/ or specialised majorfunctions, and interacting factors through initiating, designing andundertaking research, planning and development of strategicactivities. It involved the exercise of broad autonomy, judgement andleadership for the development of a field of work or knowledge or forcreating substantial professional or organisational change. It alsoreflects a critical understanding of relevant theoretical andmethodological perspectives and how they affect the field ofknowled e or works.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE NATIONAL DUAL TRAINING SYSTEM (NDTS)

The NDTS is a practice-oriented apprenticeship training system designed to develop highly skilled

knowledge manpower to meet present and future industrial needs of Malaysia, particularly in steering

the country to become a developed nation by the year 2020.

This training system is organized in a dual form that combines workplace training with institution-

based skills training. Training at the workplace (70%) takes place under actual work conditions in line

with the latest technology. Apprentice is released for a specific period of time to attend training at

training institute (30%) that provides support and supplement knowledge and skills related to the

training occupation.

The NDTS apprenticeship training programme will inculcate knowledge worker occupational

competences namely:

Technical competence (comprises knowledge and skills in the technical field);

Learning and methodological competence (comprises lifelong learning, problem solving

activities when planning, executing and monitoring workplace assignments); and

Human and social competence (comprises character development and social integration when

working in teams)

The action-oriented teaching and learning approach that promotes active and self-reliant learning as

well as teamwork will be applied throughout the duration of training. Learn and Work Assignments

(LWAs) which combine and integrate the learning and working environments will be the main

instructional tool used in the NDTS. LWAs are actual workplace assignments designed and adapted

for the learning process and for the fostering of the knowledge worker occupational competences.

Note: Training Duration

1) Level 1 = 6 Months (1 Semester)

2) Level 2 = 1 Year ( 2 Semester)

2) Level 3 = 2 Years ( 4 Semester)
