We have been able to add a new partner and strengthen cayla group’s team in Asia with an experienced corporate

finance professional and expert. Our new partner Datuk Rashid Ghazali will represent cayla group from the offices

in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia.

Rashid has Malaysian nationality and gathered his experience after graduating from the University of Wales, Insti-

tute of Science and Technology, Cardiff, Wales with a major in Banking and Finance in 1989.

He commenced working with the American Express Group in London in their personal financial planning arm until

July 1990 before joining Utama Wardley Berhad (an associate of the HSBC Group) in the Corporate Finance De-

partment in November 1990 in Malaysia.

Here and subsequently in Citicorp Capital, Malaysia and then later in the Maju Group (a Malaysian conglomerate)

and MAA Corporate Advisory (part of the Melewar Group, another Malaysian conglomerate) over a 20 year period

he established a track record of generating and completing various corporate transactions such as privatizations,

acquisitions, rights issues, initial public listings, debt raising and other financial transactions valued at more than

RM10 billion with governments, multi-nationals, conglomerates and other corporate entities in Malaysia, Southeast

Asia and Australia.

In between his times as an investment banker after he had left Citicorp, Rashid also served as CEO of Sanda Plas-

tics Industries Berhad which was then a second board public listed company on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange

involved in plastic-injection moulding, copper wire manufacturing and running of resorts.

After his period at Sanda, which was an associate of the Maju Group, he became Executive Director of the Maju

Group in January 1997 responsible for the corporate finance and business development activities and then subse-

quently CEO of MAA Corporate Advisory in January 2001 which also involved being responsible for the corporate

finance and business development activities of the Melewar Group which he held till December 2014 before a short

stint as an Executive Director in a start-up Malaysian oil & gas exploration company with a focus on Kazakhstan

prior to joining the cayla group.

At the cayla group he will work close together with Alexander Adelmund and the Asian team consisting of KC Loh,

CP Loh, who are based in Malaysia and Anthony Tong, who is based in Singapore. His core skills are in corporate

finance, commercial due diligence, but also in operational consulting and as such he will complement the skills of

our other Asian colleagues.

We are looking forward to a long, close and successful co-operation with our new colleague Rashid and many inter-

esting projects in Asia and beyond together with him for existing and future clients.
