Sarawak is rich in its natural surroundings. It is also a state with various cultures,traditions and customs. One of its cultural attractions is Pesta Kaul.

Pesta Kaul is a traditional carnival. It is celebrated by the Melanau community on

beaches in Sarawak. It is held annually in April.

Among the events in Pesta Kaul, the Semah ceremony is carried out near the mouth of

rivers. In the event, boats and sampans are colourfully decorated. Other than that, there are

beach games, the Tibou game, art of self defence, the traditional Melanau dance and then a

large feast.
