Md Shariff Mohammad Yusoff, a father of three never went to secondary school. Yet, at the age of

equivalent to PMR, in 1966. With this qualification, he got a job on a project to develop Sungai

Muda. While there, Shariff studied for his Malaysian Certificate of Education, equivalent to SPM,

at night after work. He used, bought and borrowed notes to study. A cousin studying for the same

exam helped Shariff by explaining to him what had been taught in class. Later, when he was

jobless, he pursued his Higher School Certificate, equivalent to STPM, once again tutoring himself.

Two years later, Shariff got married and started work with the Prisons Department. He was

promoted several times and rose quickly through the ranks to become the Deputy Superintendent at

the Prisons Department. Shariff was still not satisfied. He went on to get a Diploma in Counselling,

a Diploma in Law and finally a degree in Law in 2003.

myself and knew my dreams would come true some day, said Shariff.
