Mak Timah was a poor woman. She lived with her son in a smallhut. One day, she saw a beggar. The beggar looked very tired andhungry. She gave him the rice which she had been keeping for herson.

After eating the rice, the beggar thanked Mak Timah. Then hespat a few rice grains on the ground before he left. The next morning,

Mak Timah was very surprised to see that many lovely roses hadgrown at that spot.

She plucked the roses and sold them at the market. Manypeople bought the roses. Mak Timah became rich.
