Suratul-Ikhlaas

Suratul-Ikhlaas wasrevealed in Makkah.

Suratul-Ikhlaas has only four ayaat (verses).

Suratul-Ikhlaas tells us more about Allah than any other surah!

Suratul-Ikhlaas is all about Allah.

Reading Suratul-Ikhlaas is equal to reading one third of the Quraan.

There was a man from the Ansaar* at the time of Rasulullah ,who loved Suratul-Ikhlaasso much that he would recite it in every prayer!He did this even when he was leading other people in prayer at the masjid.The people went to Rasulullah to complain about him.Rasulullah asked the man why he liked to recite Suratul-Ikhlaas all the time. He said

that he loved it. Then Rasulullah saidYour love for your Lord will cause you toenter Jannah.This surah gives us the idea of our Lord , The Creator.The ansar man loved the surah because he loved Allah. Thats why prophet SAW saidYour love for your Lord will cause you to enter Jannah.. Subhanallah!

The story behind why a surah was Revealed)

You see the people at the time of Rasulullah used to worship in different waysThere were Jews, Christians, and Idolaters. The people of Makkah, who were Quraysh,were idolaters .They had father gods and son gods, and goddesses.The Quraysh kept their idols in the Kabah and people from all over Arabia wouldcome and pray to them. However, once the Kabah was back in the hands of theMuslims the idols were removed.

When Rasulullah started teaching people to worship only Allah, theQuraysh did not like it. They knew about Allah and they worshipped

Allah, but they addedother gods with Allah as well. They wanted to know what exactly Rasulullah wasworshipping, so they asked Rasulullah a very strange question.They asked Rasulullah to tell them about the family of Allah!Rasulullah waited for Allah to answer their question, and He did by revealingSuratul-Ikhlaas.

Allah is very merciful, even merciful to those who worship othergods. Allah wanted them to worship only one God.So Allah revealed Suratul-Ikhlaas.Suratul-Ikhlaas tells us more about Allah than any other surah!Suratul-Ikhlaas tells us 5 things about Allah.Lets see what they are

1stAyah Allah says That Allah is ONE, He has no family. No helpers.

He is the one & only Almighty .

2rd Ayah Allah says ,He is AsSamad .He is self sufficient , Everything depends on him and

is the Master whom all creatures need

3rdAyah Allah says ,He has no children and nor was he born

4thAyah Allah says ,there is nothing like Allah nor anything is equal to him.
