The Uses of The Simple Future Tense

1. Teacher distributes hand outs on the uses of the Simple Future Tense (When to use it)

2. Teacher asks volunteers to read the notes.

3. Teacher explains and checks students’ understanding.

Teacher must make sure students understand the uses of the simple future tense before proceeding

Using the simple future tense in sentences

1. Teacher writes the word ‘Resolution’ on the whiteboard.

2. Teacher initiates students’ response by asking them to give examples of resolutions/dreams.

3. Teacher asks students to write five sentences to describe what they plan to do in the future by using the simple future tense.

4. Teacher asks volunteers to read their resolutions aloud.

5. Teacher initiates comments from students and discusses the resolutions.

1. Some students may ask “where do we begin?’

2. Students may work individually and then come together to compare their resolutions.

3. Some students might come up with inappropriate resolutions.

Teacher must assist students in the writing process especially the weak students.

3. Teacher collects all the messages and randomly picks a few messages to be read aloud by the students.

1. Some students will take a long time to choose the celebrity to whom they are going to write the message.

2. Some students might ask what to write.
