Mohammad AlShami worked with Saferworld from June 2012 to March 2015 as our Programme Coordinator in Yemen. Mohammad was an exceptionally talented and ambitious programme coordinator who led the design, development and implementation of two of our three major programmes of work in Yemen: our youth programme and our community security programme. Mohammad has particularly strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with strong networks of contacts across Yemen and the MENA region. He develops strong and sustained relationships with his peers as well as with national and international policy makers, and is highly respected within the youth activism field in Yemen while retaining strong grassroots connections. He is a highly skilled trainer in both English and Arabic, particularly in advocacy and communication skills and political and conflict analysis. Mohammad and I have co- facilitated a number of workshops over the years, in Yemen as well as in Cairo and Amman, including running the pillar on freedom of speech for the G8 BMENA initiative in 2013 and the advocacy and media sessions for a Chatham House Yemen Forum workshop. He has always been a pleasure to work with. Mohammad is also strong on the operational side, and was the lead in establishing our office in Yemen and negotiating our registration with various ministries. He has good financial management skills with a strong track record of spending to budget. I would highly recommend Mohammad. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me at any time Yours sincerely Kate Nevens Head, MENA Programme, Saferworld [email protected]
