    Two Philanthropy

    Events, One Day, Zero

    Problems

    This past weekend, the

    brotherhood divided and

    conquered two major

    philanthropy events that

    Wabash hosts: the Breast Cancer

    Awareness Walk and Wabash

    Day. While some brothers were

    setting up the course and

    Zumba-ing with the community

    members for the Breast Cancer

Awareness Walk, the rest of the

    brothers were helping at the

    Abuse Shelter in Crawfordsville.

This was the first Theta Delt

    philanthropy experience the

freshmen were able to take part

    in.

    Faculty Dinner

    This past Tuesday, Theta Delta

Chi hosted a dinner for theWabash College faculty. Among

    our collective guests was our

    charge consultant Mike Houlihan

09 (Sigma Triton), who from our

    perspective had himself quite

the time that night. All the

professors and undergraduateshad a great time being able to

mingle in a much more social

    setting than the classroom.

    The Freshmen Strike

    Again

The freshmen did very well in

    Homecoming this year, as they

not only won Chapel Sing (we

    wont consider the 1st

    tie with

Sigma Chi- we won), but they

    managed to place 4th

    overall.

They must have a really goodpledge trainer.

    Something New

As pledge trainer, one of my

    goals was to slowly introduce

them into the ideals brothers of

Theta Delta Chi value by having

    them write essays that reflect

    these principles. The first essay

    over something relevant to this

    topic was written by Jacob

    Ferguson 18. No changes were

made to his paper, so if you do

not like it, blame the freshman.

Theta Delta hi and the Importance of the Fraternal System in

    Todays ociety

If you have two shirts inyour closet, one belongs to you and the other to the man with

no shirt. - St. Ambrose of Milan

This quote from St. Ambrose of Milan is one that can illustrate the brotherhood

that comes along with becoming a member of a fraternity. When our six founders met

on one May evening during their sophomore years at Union College, they met having

already discussed friendship as a power. Creating these friendships is something that

was important to them and is still important to Theta Delt men in these times. Similar to

the earlier quote, by becoming a fraternity man you gain brothers that are willing to doanything for you in your times of need, and can rely on you do to the same. Not only

does a fraternity man gain brothers that will always be there in his times of need, a

fraternity man learns how to work with a team and become an effective leader. These

are two essential skills to be successful in life. Throughout a fraternity mans career he

will establish a network with many of his fraternity brothers from other eras and regions.

This is also a vital part of becoming successful in ones post-graduate endeavors. A

fraternity is more than just a living unit, we are a society of men scattered throughout

the nation and in foreign countries, all bound together by the common tie of

    brotherhood.

What to Expect for Monon Bell Weekend

    (Nov. 14-16)

    TDX Alumni Meeting

The annual TDX Alumni Meeting will be held during that weekend.

More details will be provided in due time.

    Monon Bell Game

Obviously the Bell Game is that Saturday. It is a home game this year,

so come back and celebrate another Wabash victory over Depauw!

    Alumni Mushball Event

This is a new event this year that will happen the Sunday after the Bell

Game. After discussing the event with the assistant to the Wabash

athletic director, this event will not take place at Goodrich Stadium (the

field will be treated for the winter). However, we will be having it in

the recreational field next to Mud Hollow. Feel free to join in on an

undergrad vs. alumni mushball game, and lets make this a new

    tradition for TDX!
